In a nut shell not what you would expect from a Hilton ok for overnight stay thats it. Bed uncomfortable T.V very limited channels, shower not that great. Staff ok until you have a problem then seem to not want to know. wouldn't recommend, shame because hotel and grounds out side are beautiful.

Checked in very late after a flight from Cyprus and were met by a lovely woman at the desk who checked us in, asked us which paper we would like and gave us two warm cookies, one each. Arranged a wake-up call and away we went. We were in room 514 which is on the 7th floor (top floor). Had a window and two skylights, not a huge room but with everything from tea and coffee supplies to two Shortbread Biscuits. Slept wonderfully! Breakfast was fabulous even by my husband's standards (he's picky), and the exterior of the building was stunning, great views too! All we heard were birds in the morning and all we could see were trees; definitely worth a visit and close to Bristol Airport!

Room Tip: I would go to the top floor is at all possible and do have the breakfast.

Friendly staff, nice hotel in a very quiet place near Bristol. Clean and comfortable rooms. Good quality breakfast. Good choices for dinner. Free parking. Quick and easy check in. We received the traditional warm cookies ad a very nice welcome smile from the young lady at the desk. Definitely a place to return when near Bristol.

We went to the Hotel for a relaxing few days away and that is what we got. Once the keycard had been re-programmed for about the 5th time and we go into our room, we found it to have comforts you would expect from a Hilton. However, as we hadn't paid the extra, the view from the window, well lets just say, don't bother looking out. If your on the front of the Hotel however, spectacular views. The service at the Hotel was ok, Breakfast ran out of things quickly and was slow in its replacement of them. The waitresses weren't massively interested and so you do feel a little let down. We used the Swimming pool in the onsite facilities and it was relaxing although very busy. The one night we ate in the Hotel we did so in the bar, which served many of the same things as the Marco Pierre White restaurant but for less of the cost. Overall, there are many touches that you feel for a Doubletree could be much better, this is the second one we have stayed at and it falls well below the London, Tower of London Hotel. However, to visit Bristol, Bath, Cheddar, Weston etc... it is perfectly placed, comfortable and relaxing in its location. I would just say, if you can get a deal on this do so, full price you may feel a little let down.

Room Tip: Try and get on the front of the Hotel.

1. Check-in. I am a native English speaker, but I could not understand what the young guy was saying to me. He obviously does this so many times that he just rushes through what he has to do and does not deliberately try to explain things.
2. The room was nothing special but was advertised as deluxe. It was no better than a Premier Inn room but was three times the price. The shower was merely an over-bath shower. The room was small. The TV was not HD - free view channels were not HD even though the large TV was a feature in your advertising.
3. It took a lot of time to work out how to use the air-con, which is ridiculous as I am used such systems, it kept us awake and we couldn't turn it off.
4. The pool was lovely, excpet that my wife badly bruised her shin on the steps. When the water bubbles in the corner of the pool, it is not possible to see where the steps are, so a bad design and safety risk.
5. Nothing was explained very well in the spa. They merely assumed that we knew what to do, where to go and what it was all about. We had a lot of treatments, but were not treated well on a personal level or informed as to how things work. I guess it's a lot of trouble to take time to do this. The details of the package that we bought was not included in oour internet receipt, so we had forgotten exactly what we were going to have.
6. Given the price we paid for the room, it was outrageous that we had to pay for internet access if we required it. I can get free internet access at my local train station and even on a local bus, but not in a 'luxury' hotel, which is absurd.
7. I also think it is deliberate that the hotel interferes with mobile signals, to try to encourage guests to pay for internet access. Again, this is outrageous given the price.
8. The room doors make a loud slamming sound when they shut, and this noise of the doors of the neighbours slamming in the middle of the night kept waking us up.

Only redeeming feature was the dinner, which was excellent, but very pricey. The booking said free dinner but the small print indicates only £20 discount per head (a fraction of the cost). The meal came to £100, so the free dinner actually cost us £60. How wonderful is that?

Overall, my wife and I just wanted a relaxing weekend after a long period of hard work and also on our wedding anniversary, but we wish we had chosen differently. I intend to copy this review on a trip-advisor type website so others are forewarned.

I don't really understand the negative comments about this hotel.

Me and my boyfriend stayed here for a short spa break, we booked the room last minute and paid £89 for the night. The room was big and well decorated. The bathroom was large with a seperate toilet, bath and over head shower.

We found the service really good and check in/out speedy and informative.

The pool area was clean and loved the large jacuzzi area.

People that are saying they got lost around the hotel are obviously used to staying in travel lodge type accommodation where all the corridors lead to the entrance. We loved the quirkyness of exploring the different floors and the beautiful balconies that you could watch the sunset over the countryside.

Beautiful hotel with lovely views. Will definately return.
