Owner description: Peaceful lake nestled in the mountains and surrounded by lush, green forest.

Stunning and isolated, Emerald Lake was one of our very favorite stops. Located in Yoho National Park it was a quick 30 minute drive on Hwy 93 and worth every minute to see the beautiful color and setting. Canoe rentals, hiking paths and even a luxury lodge and restaurant .... On the way, stop at the Natural Bridge to see the river carved rock bridge. Then on your way back from the lake take the exit to see Takakkaw Falls, a huge, thundering waterfall. Follow the path from the parking lot for a closer view. All of this can be seen in two to three hours but will be remembered forever - bring your camera!

This lake is another of the several breathtaking lakes in Yoho National Park. However its best asset is the very easy trail around it, making it easy for people not used to hard hiking to stroll lazily around it. Also it is not very frequented like lake Louise so it is less crowded. Its name reflects it real natural colour. It is indeed Emerald.

What a simply beautiful lake. It was like walking into a picture. And yes it really is emerald green. Having visited many of the more popular lakes such as lakes Louise, Moraine, Maligne and Peyto, Emerald is my favourite. It is possibly not as busy but it is truly breathtaking. Whilst there, we hired 2 canoes and went out on the lake with the children - brilliant. This is well worth a visit.

We stopped here on our way from Banff to Golden and it is truly stunning! The lake is a bright greenish-blue and the surrounding mountains are picture perfect. I want to go back to hike round it properly, so worth the visit!

One cannot wonder if you were in paradise on a sunny day with just some breeze strolling by Emerald Lake. Its rich sparkling cyan colour flourishes your thoughts, while the tranquil lake surface creates a perfect symmetry that extends and flips the already breathtaking landscape upside down. Of course, my review is based on my visits on nearly perfect sunny days and I had to admit that my last visit on a windy day did allow the imperfection to remind me how wonderful it could have been. So, if it's your first visit to Emerald Lake, scale the expectation down a bit (despite of all the seemingly unrealistic reviews) and you will definitely experience wonders and awes!
