I have pretty much took a look at most of the hotels in the area, the hotel Dona Chava is pretty good but seems like the rooms are smaller... but over all, the hotel was good.
The rooms are small but great and comfortable, the AC works perfectly, with great ceiling fans, the bathroom is small but very correct for that area.
I would rate the hotel rooms a 2.5* US but for them... a 4*.
I would rate the hotel grounds 3.5* US but for the area 4.5* since there are only 2 hotels in the whole place that have pools.
This town is very very very hot! So yes a pool is nice!
The location of the hotel is far enough from downtown ... about 15 min. walk. You can take a concho (moto) for 50 pesos but the problem is that because the hotel is the last building of that street... not many conchos pase by.
The beach is right behind when you ask them to unlock the gate in the back... You have to walk a little way out to get a decent beach area because the beach is not that nice but still could swim in it!
Over all I was happy with my stay at this hotel. the owner of this hotel owns a few more hotels in the area exemple Hotel Vennesa or something like... don't go there... Horrible... I felt in a prison the first night and I had bug beds... so no way!!! Find something else. I would have been better sleeping outside... Until they found us a room at the hotel Villa del Mar.
As for the restaurant, they don't have much to offer especially for breakfast. Ended costing more for eating there than the price of the room (or just about) so I recommend the best restaurant in town, KINGCRAB. hmmm so good and the prices are good!
Have fun in Pedernales and don't forget to visit Haiti 10-15 min. walk from Pedernales and the Haitians are very friendly and nice... you will feel safe! No worries...
Also, don't drink the water !!!!!!!!!!!!!
