I've been travelling round France for a week and half and have been booking hotels at various locations. Mainly kept the budget low, so I could spend a bit more on food and wine. The only reason for booking this place was the location, as I wanted to go to the Gorges du Verdon. And this possibly the reason why the price is much higher for what really is a 2 star hotel - the location and the views. The staff were friendly enough and there was a bar in the hotel. I didn't pay for breakfast so couldn't comment. I felt that the hotel was overrated for what it was, and it certainly wasn't an amazing hotel. I wouldn't stay there. It's decent, clean with views -that's how I would sum it up.

We were doing a trip to the gorge on the canoes and stayed here. The View is amazing of the lake and the breakfast was quite good Wi-Fi works well and the guy on reception was very good and kind enough to help me book my lift to Les Arc and train to Nice. The rooms are a bit simple but still clean and nice. After all I didn't come here to stay in the room watching television.

We stayed a week at the Auberge des Salles and it was a fantastic experience. Our room was very clean with a beautiful balcony overlooking the lake. The hotel is at walking distance from the beach. The breakfast is very tasty and good value. The hotel is extremely well kept and ideally located but above all, the owners and staff members deserve a special mention for their exceptional warmth, hospitality and dedication. It is quite rare to find such incredible service.
Highly recommended for a relaxing and warm stay close to the spectacular Gorges du Verdon!

Room tip: Ask for a room with lake view

We had a family room for four persons with a view over the lake. The room wasn't huge, but still bigger than some equivalent rooms at more expensive hotels. It was clean, and there was everything we needed (however, no air conditioning). The staff (owner family) was really nice and helpful. The auberge has apparently been in the same family for five generations, and there are photos of it when the village was at it's previous place (what is no at the bottom of the lake...). There are several different breakfasts to choose between at extra charge. There is free wifi at the hotel but only one of us could log in.

BEautiful view from our room, a very glum man at reception. Room ok, beds quite comfortable, except for blankets on bed, which is a no no for me. We did have a balcony, as resturant not open for dinner odd ??? It was July. !!We luckily had been to supermarket and bought our dinner. We decided to have breakfast on the terrace which was all good, not enough coffee but I'm a coffee freak. !!!

Room tip: As long as overlooking lake.
