This restaurant was well recommended by colleagues and was very much worth the visit.

Thank you to Bastian, who spotted my English accent...or the bad attempt at French on my part...and seamlessly swapped to English for me and was a great help throughout the meal.

(By the way, the Menu was available in English - thank you, much appreciated).

Food was superb, the setting great! I loved the age and ambiance of the place, the main beam of the ceiling is impressive!

But...it was the most expensive 2 courses & 2 cokes meal I’ve had!

Very French local restaurant. Perfectly cooked omelette. Wonderfully dressed green salad.
If you like your food come here.

After a 8 hour long drive, checked in Chambres de la Renaissance in Sainte-Julie and asked where we could have dinner. Le Lion d'Or was recommended. Called to make a reservation. Drove by three times without seeing the restaurant so unpretentious, very French. Looked at the menu and decided to take a full meal.
You don't need to eat at a Paul Bocuse...this was Paul Bocuse in a small town and it reminded me that this region not only has dishes that are excellent but also a variety. of cheeses.
The restuarant is family owned and therefore everyone there wants Clients to feel that they are doing their best and best it is. We shall go back on our frequent trips from the southwest of France to Eastern France.

The servce was superb: we were treated like royalty!

There are restaurants that do best catering to their neighbors. Others are geared to meeting the needs of travelers. When you find a local place that does extremely well in both categories and does so with great culinary finesse and truly professional service, it deserves the top ratings that you see here on Tripadvisor. If we lived near this pleasant and prosperous town we would be regular clients.

From the outside, it is a typical local and modest restaurant. But the tables are set with great care and style, the art work on the walls is charming and the genuine warmth and sound advice of the owner family rings true. We were guided to an exceptional local white wine and were especially delighted to enjoy an increasingly rare local delicacy: frogs legs.

One has the impression this is the place to celebrate special events and just every day evenings. There is a wide ranging cheese board and a fine selection of meats, poultry and fresh fish.

Perhaps this won't be one of the best meals of your life, but one you will savor, enjoy and remember for a long time to come.
