We booked in an apartment for a wedding. My uncle and aunt stayed as well as the grooms sister and husband. they all loved thier stay. We had the unit by the road and the lovely private garden was great for the kids, all fenced off, lovely and green surrounded by flowers. With the bbq and outside table and chairs we all gathered here in the tranquil garden. An added bonus was the carpark right outside the gate to the garden and only a few steps from car to unit. The shower was for a wheel chair and being a wet room the kids could get in together all modern shiney clean tiles. Seperate bedroom for the kids, lovely clean and up to date kitchen with added little extras like paper towels and yummy chocolates on arrival. The owners were great, they obvious know the area well and it was no trouble for them to find us a cot and a highchair at short notice.

Would reccomend this motel for families, lovely warm atmosphere and everything was shiney new and clean.

Room Tip: Unit one is great for families, lovely secure garden, full kitchen, seperate bedroom for kids. Unit...

The accommodation was booked in October, for the first week of January 2013. We never requested a quiet room, as we never expected it would be a requirement. The unit we were placed in was a 2brm, self contained ground floor apartment next to their garage, on what was practically as noisy as sitting on the edge of State Highway 1.

Told owners we weren't happy to spend our holiday in this unit as it wasn't satisfactory. They told us "too bad. it's not noisy. It has hush glass" (only useful with closed doors and windows) Basically they weren't willing to do anything to help us. They has debited our credit card the day we arrived, without giving us any alternative opportunity to pay, & I was always under the impression you couldn't charge the card for the stay until you were checking out. (In 30 plus years of travelling we have never experienced this sort of behaviour before) They were still advertising vacancies and when asked, they weren't prepared to move us into a quieter unit unless we paid them more money.

The following is a synopsis of our unsatisfactory 5 night stay at the Boatshed Motel & Apartments.

* Rude, Unfriendly, Sullen & Discourteous Greeting upon our check-in

* Very noisy unit- in the middle of summer, Owners told us to keep the windows and doors closed if we wanted to keep the noise out. Impossible at temperatures of 25 degrees plus. Also made it impractical to sit outside in the courtyard due to exhaust fumes and noise. Because of the noise, it made staying in the unit during the day untenable, and the only way we could enjoy our holiday was to leave each day before 9am, and arrive back after 8pm.

* Room was dirty and dusty. Cobwebs, and cockroaches. The dust also affected my wife's asthma quite badly, and I too, could smell the dust.

* Could hear sounds from the upstairs unit

* Shower got blocked, and then self corrected itself

* Daughter slipped on bathroom tile floor, because shower is open plan with a couple of old mouldy shower curtains, and the whole bathroom floor gets wet and slippery

* We booked for 3 people at the time of booking (we had email confirmation from them in October) and we were accused of having more people staying than we had booked for.

* They advertise Sky, however this doesn't include Sky Movies. When I asked about this we were told -you can have a DVD player which they handed to me along with 3 very old VD movies. I then asked if someone could set it up, and a few mins later, Ken arrived with colleague to install the DVD. I asked casually about the noise as Ken had denied that the unit was noisy when we initially questioned him about this on our arrival. Hi response was to turn around and yell at us in front of my 13 yo daughter and my wife and stormed out without configuring the DVD player. Unbelievable behaviour once again, and we are the paying guests!!!

* After first day after cleaners had been in, we found our windows all left open, and a sprinkler system was also flooding water into the main bedroom through the open window, wetting the carpet and the bedding. We requested that the windows be all left closed after cleaning as leaving them opened presented a security risk to our belongings being so close to the road, and on the ground level. After 3 more days, they began leaving the windows open again ignoring our earlier requests.

My wife booked this unit based on all the good reviews, however upon reflection these all seem to relate to units that have great views, and are therefore not by the road, and would not have the same levels of noise we had to endure. Ken and Rae were very defensive upon our arrival, they had our money guaranteed, and therefore they didn't give a hoot about our satisfaction or happiness.

Had we known this place was on the market for sale, and had we seen some of the negative reviews on trip advisor, we would never have booked here. We experienced two owners who appeared totally disinterested in caring about their customers. (Their fee paying guests) as it seems to be at their whim when or who they will provide customer service to.

We regret staying at this Motel, and would thoroughly NOT recommend anyone to stay here. If you are wanting good or great customer service - go elsewhere.

As an aside, we are regular travelers who have traveled nationally and internationally for 30 plus years, and only ever had the need to complain on one other occasion where we received a refund and an apology. Nothing was forthcoming from these people at Boatshed Motel and Apartments as they simply didn't give a toss.

Room Tip: "Don't stay here if you valuable good customer service"

This motel/apartment was just delightful. Only a short stopover, so we chose a small but sunny room with ensuite, and teamaking facilities.
Did have the option of a larger room etc. There are several options.
What surprised us was that our fee actually encluded conti-breakfast. Really a charm!
So close to the beach (1 minute walk) and handy to shops.
Friendly host's. We shall go here again!

My family and I have experienced unequalled hospitality and service at Boatshed Motel on 3 different occasions - having been in the hospitality industry myself and therefore understanding it as well as being an AA award winner in the superior category, I can recommend this facility highly.
Rae and Ken are very friendly and caring people.

Room Tip: Unit 3 and 4 are fantastic for families

I have been staying here for the last 5 years and have always had excellent service and a wonderful friendly welcome. I keep coming back for lots of reason , rooms are always serviced well with a nice homely touch , views are amazing, beach only a short 5 minute walk, all the mod cons are in the rooms including Sky so I get to see all the Rugby games.., beds very comfortable, showers have great pressure, and chocolates left on the bench for that nice sweet treat at night : ) I thoroughly recommend this place to stay I give it 5 stars

Room Tip: Take the rooms with a view, beach side : )

We just stayed for 2 nights, but really could have stayed a whole week. The rooms, living area and courtyard were an ideal size for the family.
Thanks for the great holiday, the kids loved it.... Must book in again for the Chistmas & New Year holiday!
