I'm afraid I can't recommend this place.
The room we stayed in was quite small with too much furniture in it. The room was only ever designed to be a bedroom. Not a combined bed/lounge room. It was also very cold with only a small radiator to heat it. Only half the electric blanket worked.( my wifes side of course) Had a small crt television. No shampoo. Shampoo and toilet rolls were available for purchase from the front desk .
With a bit of effort this could be a really nice place to stay.

This hotel advertises on the Bookabach webite and advertised a rate of $150 per night on 23rd December for up to 4 people in a 2 bed unit. I enquired through this website and never got a response, so called the hotel and was directed to their own website. I would have booked here however the rate was $215. When I emailed the Atrium about this they said $150 was the low season and $215 was the high season and as I had 3 people, it was another $20. I rechecked the Bookabach website and sure enough still $150 for 4 people, the higher rate didn't apply until the following day. When I simply and politely pointed this out again the response was -

As I said in my last email the high season rates apply.

My next response was -

I'm simply asking you to honour the price you advertised. What a disgustingly poor level of service. Cancel my enquiry.

Have heard nothing further a week later.

The apartment was well kitted out, with all the necessary mod-cons and a good view out over the sea. They're a useful base for visiting other areas along the "north" coast, including White Island if you're willing to make the 1 hour drive down to Whakatane. It's well worth doing.

The town itself clearly targets the Cruise Ships that dock every few days in the peak season. The town itself is restricted to a main street that has a few decent restaurants...shame the customer service in the restaurants and the hotel itself aren't consistent day in day out.

Would we return to Mt Manganui...probably not. That said if we had to visit again, we would probably stay at The Atrium.

This is in a great location. It was any easy walk to the restaurants on Mt Maunganui Road, and also to the hot water pools. There is a private path at the back of the property that takes you to the wonderful beach.

The rooms were clean and comfortable. They weren't very big, but fine for a few days or a week. It was great having the cooking facilities, including the dishwasher. Though there are lots of good restaurants within 3 minutes walk from the Atrium,

The pool and spa are both a good size and not too over looked. We also liked the secure underground car park.

Our apartment was very clean, with up to date furniture etc. Kitchen had everything you need. Room 307 had a good "side" view but not front on the the beach, but that was OK. Managers friendly and helpful. Our children loved the pool and there is an alleyway through the property to the road on the beachfront. Outside shower made it easy to remove all that sand too. Great undercover parking and lift for all that stuff you need with children. Great comfy beds and pillows. Only negative, which has nothing to do with the hotel, is the construction noise during the weekdays on nearby building sites (Mt Maunganui end). Great place for a family holiday.

We stayed at 109 the Atrium in Mt. Maunganui with two daughters in their 20's. The appartment was exceptionally clean and tidy and an adequate size for 4 adults each with 3 weeks worth of clothing! Very good value for money, great location for shopping, restaurants and beaches. Close to Tauranga and Bayveiw Mall if you want some retail therapy. Short drive to kiwi fruit farms and other attractions. We would recommend 109 to anyone visiting The Mt.
