We hadn't booked for a Saturday night long weekend, but table (away from the door) was 45 mins away so we went for a couple of drinks down the road. Once seated and our menus were posted (loved this) we spent some time checking out the decor which was awesome. Everything fit with the theme. Food was beautiful but worth the high price. Would definitely return and recommend

Six of us went to the post bank as we wanted to go somewhere special to celebrate. We didnt hold back ordering champayne, and 3 course meal each. The souffle entree was devine, followed by the best steak I think I have ever eaten. One of my colleagues had the swordfish and the others had pork belly.
It was all perfect. Well done to the chefs.
The atmosphere is really unique, you feel you could be sitting in a den of an english manor, yet they also have this very gorgeous outside area that has the flavour of europe.
I look forward to dining there again.

My husband and I arrived here late in the evening (9.45) and we're expecting to not be able to get good still but the staff were very obliging and welcoming. We chose to have three starters between us which were all delicious, soufflé, Vietnamese salad and goats cheese and beet root tartlet. Loved the decor and little touches like the presentation of the tables and the menus. Only slight criticism is you do pay on the high side but we had such a nice time we didn't mind but it is more of a special occasion eatery I would say than casual dining.

6 of us dined on a not excessively busy night. We had to wait a whole hour between ordering and the food arriving. When we suggested that the restaurant should supply another bottle of wine, as it's usual to have the wine with the food that's been ordered, we were told it wasn't the customer's prerogative to make that decision - !! The food received mixed reviews, the courgette souffle was amazing, the market fish was very average and even a bit on the rubbery side. Quite pricey for what you got. Lovely desserts and the hot chocolate was apparently delicious, but to arrive at 7.30pm and eat at 9pm really isn't on.

A comfortable blend of the old established with the modern touches one expects today. The size of the rooms and the placement of tables against the backdrop of the books in the library give a welcoming ambience. There was also both indoor and outside seating.
Our German waitress was a delight, helpful but not obtrusive. When her shift ended she even came and said goodbye. It is refreshing to be 'attended' to by staff.
The food was excellent and priced well for a restaurant of this standard and quality. As only an occasional steak eater on this evening I was delighted with my choice and the accompanying herb butter.
We all decided we would definitely go again and we would recommend it with confidence for that special occasion or a just delicious meal.
