We chose to stay here as we could not find a decent hotel review for Rotorua - so drove another 1.5 hours to get here instead. We were glad we did, as the area is super. A great beachside town, nice atmosphere, super beach, nice pubs, restaurants. It is a great little resort on its own right.

Belle Mer is right on the beach, car parking on site, so no problems there. We had a 2 bed apartment (only needed 1)
Bathroom was super as it had a great whirlpool bath, which I used twice a day! Nice feature.

Lounge area was large, TV, stereo, DVD. Great size.

No restaurant facilities on site, but walk 20 minutes (and it is 20) to the main cafe area on the beachfront for a great breakfast - there are 6 cafes to choose from.

Pool is fine, limited sun getting into this area, but a welcome relief on a hot day.

Some building construction works from next-door-but-one - They start at 0700 am!

Oh boy- you will adore this marvelous hotel in Mt. Manganui, North Island, New Zealand. We had a HUGE 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom apartment right on the beach (you do have to cross the road with almost no cars to get to your personal, uncrowded absolutely pristine beach). My god, this place was quite a find- the master BR was huge with a jacuzzi and the kitchen was perfect with all the amenities. The living room was huge and beautifully decorated with floor to ceiling windows facing the ocean. Manganui was the best little town- fun shopping and increidble food (best was 2 Small Fish for dinner and lunch or dinner at Zeytin). Absolutely outstanding experience. Perfect for families or groups. Oh- the best part is that our 3 BR gem cost about 270$ American per night- try finding such value and charm in the states...good luck on that! Please go- you will love it.

This place reminded me of ritzy resort beach areas in the U.S.A., without the hype or craziness. Perhaps it's because we were there in winter (which was still lovely albeit a bit windy), or perhaps the nature of the place lends itself to a relaxed yet upscale stay. I loved that we could walk anywhere...to shops, to restaurants, to "the Mount." The beach right across the street was magnificent with a span of sand and ocean and rocks as far as we could see. The two bedroom second floor unit we had was nicely decorated, comfortable and spacious for our family of three adults and two children. The kitchen was well equipped and everything was very clean. I liked the small-friendly feel of the place and the owners who were so kind to us.

The Belle Mer was a delight to stay at and gave us a nice relaxing time at the end of a busy touring holiday. We had booked only days prior but still received an upgrade to a top floor apartment with beautiful fixtures and fittings throughout.

Our kids especially loved the new big TV and the spa bath!

The apartments are handily situated to get to both the beach(of which we had great views) and the town(c200m) to get food and other supplies. They had great facilities which all looked brand new.

Well done to the owners who have made every effort to provide a quality place to stay at an affordable price.

Our party of five adults spent four days at Belle Mer at the beginning of February, then two of us spent an additional 12 days there at the end of February. Our first unit was a ground floor three bedroom /two bath unit (plus a great patio and barbeque); the second was two bedrooms and two baths (with a great 50 foot long patio that overlooked the ocean). Both units were spacious (approx. 1000 sq. ft.) modern , well furnished, and spotlessly clean. As is typical in NZ, both units had a kitchen with utensils and small appliances. There was also a dishwasher, which is not so typical. The large bathroom had a spa tub as well as a shower. There are washers and dryers in the units that do not require coins to use. There is also underground parking and a pool.

The location is superb--right across from the magnificent beach and only a few blocks from the downtown stores and the Mount itself (with its marvelous walking path). We could sit on the deck and watch the sun rise, the surfers, and the ocean. We could walk to the shops and restaurants. It was wonderful. (I should probably note that Mt. Maunganui is is the vacation "suburb" of Tauranga.)

Hosts David and Diana are knowledgeable, friendly and helpful, as is the cleaning staff.

Although this is billed as a "luxury" unit, the cost was very reasonable and below that of many like accommodations on Marine Parade (the street that runs along the beach). We will definitely stay here again. (To put this review in perspective, this was our sixth trip to NZ and our fifth trip to Mount Maunganui.)
