We came here twice, once for brunch and another time for coffees.
Brunch was pretty good and my scrambled Eggs were tasty with chives(?) through them. They were no Floridita's (Wellington) eggs but fine. The full breakfast eaters were happy with their food. Coffees were great.

The second time we came we ordered coffees to go. Service was a bit funny. The girl took out order (1 trim FW & 1 standard FW) and the waitress declared that they only use trim milk. Then I saw their fridge was full of lite blue milk. Is this just considered 'trim' these days? Anyway she was a but surly like we were a hassle to have to serve ( it was busy) but the coffees were good as per.

Perfectly positioned opposite the beach with inside/outside eating. My fresh fruit/yoghurt/muesli/ breakfast was huge and full of fresh fruit, fantastic value for money. My husband chose scrambled eggs, free range, with toast and avocado and also huge and fantastic value for money. Very reasonably priced. We sat outside on a beautiful clear morning, wonderful way to start the day.

We arrived on a busy Sunday morning for breakfast to be told there was a one hour wait for food! We had all been looking forward to eating here as friends had recommended it so decided to stay. The coffee was great, nice and hot but the fact that we had to first ask to order drinks, then each time it took 20 minutes to get our 2 rounds of coffee. Inexcusable! We found the place really noisy, people seem to think its appropriate to have their whiny dogs in the courtyard and the wait stuff were sultry. Food was OK when it arrived (1hr,15mins later) The fact that they forgot one of the meals, and one of our group asked for extra toast. It arrived with no butter and when you turned it over it was BURNT BLACK. The food was just average, in fact not one of our group even finished their meal. We were all very disappointed, will not be recommending it and certainly will not be returning.

Chanced on Tay Street Beach Cafe after the place we were going to visit (in Mount central) was closed. Someone suggested it and...presto! More of a casual restaurant than a cafe i.e. order off the menu, no sandwhiches, muffins etc in the cabinet, but the food was great. The 3 of us ordered the lamb burger, calamari salad and the breakfast bacon and mushrooms. All very good indeed.

Service was also very good in that laid back Kiwi way, suggest that if time is an issue you make it well known. Given the lovely day we were in no rush. They do dinner in the summer months, might well go back before that finishes.

Recommended.
