We explored few walks up the mount . Great ocean view . There are sheep roaming freely on the mount . Rabbits can also been seen at the foot of the mount . The tracks up are not very steep and you can stopped every now and then for a good view . Certain path can be narrow . We stayed just next to the mount and noticed that at any time , there are people tracking. Lots of pohutukawa trees on the mount . Great workout before you head down the street for a good meal .

Getting a bit of exercise in while on holiday & getting to see the great view from the top made it well worth the bit of pain for the daughter to get to the top.

Fantastic weather, great views! We climbed the steepest track and it definately wouldn't be suitable for people with disabilities! but for my family it was perfect! There were some people jumping off the top with parachutes and flying around before landing on the beach, great to watch!

If you're in the area this is a must, you can walk around the base or as we did do the climb up. You will not be disappointed

Staying in the area of the Mount a walk around the base and up to the summit are a must. There is really only one track around the base, but quite a few different ways to reach the summit. No matter what time of day you go there will always be other people also enjoying the exercise and views. I have been to the summit at 7am and 9pm, on boiling hot days and in the rain, and there are always people around and something new to see. Walking round the base takes about 45mins, going to the summit and back takes about 1hr. I don't find the climb up arduous, but always go up on the rough path and come down the stairs because I don't like coming down on the rough scree and find the steps easier (because I do it in flip-flops/sandals). There are loads of benches and viewing places all the way up and it's great to watch one of the huge passenger boats leaving (or arriving) the harbour, as the channel is narrow and they get so close you can talk to the people on-board. This is must do, don't be put off by the size of the hill, all paths are well maintained, you can't get lost (just go up and then down, or around the edge), children can easily walk up - and its free!
(There are toilets and drinking fountains at each side of the Mount, nothing on the summit)
