We really enjoyed our stay here. Starting with awesome friendly hosts willing to help and making sure we were comfortable. The room had a good view, the location is quiet and central, walking distance to town and the beach. The free wireless internet was a great touch where so many other places charge for it. Will definitely stay here again when we are back in town.

We statyed here while my partner was setting up for the jazz festival. It was a great location, walking distance to many things. It was nice having a kitchenette in our room for late night, after work snaks.

Road noise was a little much if you left your windows open at night, but not a problem at all if they were closed.

They had a great bath tub/shower combo.

Kept the room very tidy.

The rooms could do with a slight update on the interior and linens. But overall it was a very nice stay.

Would recommend to anyone!

Hello there, Many thanks for your review. We are glad you enjoyed your stay here at Baywatch Motor Inn and value your comments so we can improve the experience of our future guests.
Your views regarding the decor and road noise are valid and our comments below will hopefully clarify the situation here.

As you mentioned in your review, because of the Heatpumps/Air conditioning and the Whisper
Glass used in the Panoramic windows, the rooms are relitively quiet when the windows are shut, but because of our location in Downtown the Mount, if the windows are opened at busy times the road noise is apparent .

We have only just taken over the business at Baywatch as of late July and are under taking a full makeover both inside and out begining immediately to be completed by Labour weekend 2012. This will lift baywatch up to a level expected of and exeeding a 4 1/2 Star property.

Once again thank you for your great comments and hopefully we can have the pleasure of you staying again at Baywatch Motor Inn.

We decided last minute to stay at this motel, were pleased we did. The room was spacious with a good little kitchen. The decor could be upgraded it was a bit drab, but for an overnighter it was great.

Just an outstanding Motel in a lovely town. We went to Mount Maunganui by accident and what a find. The Baywatch owners ~ 2 couples emigrated from Essex to set up the shared business ~ were more than welcoming. One of the owners ( male, I'm glad to say) was the double of Henry Cooper! The room we had was large, beautifully clean, well furnished, air conditioned, had a lovely bathroom and had a clean well equipped kitchen area. Its location was perfect for a two minute walk to one of the most beautiful beaches I have ever seen. Spent ages in the sea which was lovely & warm. Theres also a second beach area insie the Spit which many peoplle were using with younger children (no waves) and for canoeing and yachting. Maunganui town centre & shops were only 2 minutes away and the walk around the base of Mount Maunganui was really scenic too. Definately a motel I would go back to.

This was my second stay at the Baywatch hotel in Mt Maunganui. Very nicely presented and well maintained facility, very clean and tidy and in great location. Just a couple of minutes walk to the beach and a short walk to the city centre. Good services from the hosts, always willing to provide assistance. Nice big curved windows in each room with nice bedding, bathroom, and kitchenette. There is also private parking and a small pool. Quite area just out of the main strip but still central. More on the expensive side yet it is still good value for money. Ideal for business travellers and couples. Will certianly stay again!

Stayed here for 1 night on a road trip. It was a reasonable price for the location as the closer you get to the Mount the more expensive the accommodation gets. It's within walking distance of the Mount - maybe 20 minutes steady walk but there are lots of restaurants and bars etc within 10 minute walk. Staff were really friendly and helpful. We had a room on the upper floor, there are no amazing views but nothing offensive either! Mainly residential view. Is on a main road so be prepared for some traffic noise. Rooms were well equipped, pleasant and clean!

Friendly, comfortable, convenient, modern studio room - all the best things about New Zealand's motels are found here. Great shopping just a stroll away and some fantastic restaurants.
No complaints at all, but....our only disappointment was in the name - which gave us to believe you could actually see the Bay of Plenty from the room. However, getting to the sea was a drive over the hill. Our ground floor room was on the roadside, and being the main road from Tauranga to the nightlife, there was quite a bit of traffic. The top floor rooms may the best for views - do ask. Nevertheless, a very good motel.
