Spent 2 weeks here in a private couples room. Was awesome! The place is big with lots of space unlike some other hostels. All the staff are really friendly and happy to help. Would definitely stay again!

Right away we were greeted by super friendly staff, who last minute were able to move our booking from a dorm to a newly available double room. It was such a great clean space with towels provided. The staff were constantly busy making sure the place was clean but never too busy to have a nice chat and make you feel welcome. Alina the hostel manager was 100% the icing on the cake! Always happy to offer us information and contacts to help us get set up in the Mount, she knows it all!
Best hostel stay, thank you Alina and staff!

Hi Maddy

Thank you so much for the great feedback!
It was such a pleasure to have you and your boyfriend stay. Secretly wished you both could have stayed forever!

Thank you for regonising all the hard work that the PCL Team puts in. I'll pass on your lovely comments to the team. That will seriously make their day!

Enjoy the summer in the beautiful Mount, and who knows, hopefully bump into you two on the beach sometimes.

Take care!

I booked my stay at this hostel under the pretense that they help people find work fast, or so they told me over the phone when I booked. I paid over $200 for a week's stay, only to be told the second day that there aren't any jobs coming for another three weeks. Meanwhile, they continue to put up ads on the backpackerboard website claiming there is kiwi orchard work available "now". I found this very misleading and dishonest.
Women toilets ran out of paper more than once (in the one week I was there) and would not be replaced for several hours. Same for coffee and sugar.
The wifi signal was terrible.
The manager, slightly rude. Didn't seem to care at all when told about lack of toilet paper, and also went by the laundry area asking guests to put the hostel towels in the dryer, without a please or thanks.
Location was okay and all other staff members nice, which is why I give 2 stars and not 1.

Hi daianochka

Sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your stay at our award winning hostel.
Regarding the comment about " finding work". We have made it very clear to you, that the kiwifruit season will start end of September and that we can assist you in finding other jobs in the meantime. We need our guests, just like you, to be proactive too. We have given you all the tools in how to get for example an hospitality job in the Mount. The mount is booming at the moment and all the local Bars, Cafes , Restaurants are hiring their summer staff.

And yes we continues putting adds up, as other contractors needed males to work on their Orchards. Some of those Orchard works are not suitable for ladies. There was nothing misleading or dishonest about. Did you keep an eye on our work notice board? There were / are plenty of notes on for bars hiring in the area.

In the week you have stayed with us, we had a big sports group staying. That was a very busy time! I'm sorry to hear that the loo paper wasn't replaced straight away. We have several other bathrooms throughtout the hostel. We will be addressing this with the staff to be more effective about it.

I'm also sorry if you felt the manager was rude. She puts her heart and soul into her work to ensure everyone has a memorable stay. As guests wanted to use the laundry before the disignated time for guests, and the staff was still using the facilities for hostel sheets, yes, she did ask for the clean laundry to be put in the dryer instead of the floor while taking a new arrived guests up their room. We have signs up in the laundry, about the times guests can use and which times staff are using for the house laundry. It get's wee bit upsetting for staff, when guests ignore the staff use only time.

We hope you did take some advantage of our free surfboards and had a drink on us on Tuesday nights at our local bar.

Happy Travels
The Pcl Team

My girlfriend is staying at this hostel and she is extremely disappointed. The quiet hours are not being respected as people are partying, drinking and possibly doing drugs until 2-3 in the morning. The night staff is apparently getting drunk with the backpackers during their working hours. Unacceptable!

I am very sorry that it was too noisy for you - we do have a night warden on site and they should be enforcing the quite time. We have a zero drug policy. We have x2 night wardens so one of them had a night off. We will be having a staff meeting today to make sure quiet time is enforced. I too am disappointed that your girlfriend did not have a good stay..I will be looking into this complaint further Regards, Sarah the Owner
