Quest Mount Maunganui

This is a very nice apartment complex. Modern, very clean, secure parking, comfy bed, well-equipped kitchen. The only criticisms I would have is that there is no room on the bathroom vanity to put your toilet bag or supplies, and there is no shelf in the shower for soap, shampoo, etc. Having to leave the soap on the shower floor is unhygienic and dangerous! However, the shower was probably the very best I have ever had - high pressure massaging head and pure bliss!

First impression was the place did not meet my expectations, all the pictures of the 1 bedroom apartments on website looked fabulous, admittedly rooms were very modern but ours was on the ground floor and very dark, courtyard was disappointing - out the back and only outlook was to neighboring courtyards. Apartments cater for 4 people but only enough outdoor seating for 2. It seemed all poolside apartments had "live in" residents. No airconditioning and we were there towards end of summer - very very stuffy in the middle of the night. Not enough towels in the bathroom - when we advised the office lady it was like she didn't even want to be at work, although she did get us an extra towel and gave pool towels which was appreciated. We had a very bright light right outside the bedroom window and the window blind was so pathetic it was like sleeping with the light on. We managed to try and cover the window with a towel on the second night - made a small difference. Was a rowdy party on the first night in the neigboring apartment but the office closed at 8 or 8.30pm so no one to contact to complain about the noise!! When we left and went to pay the office girl (different one this time) just took the payment and didn't even ask if we enjoyed our stay - not great on customer service. Would not return to this property and would not recommend to others.

Wonderful place to stay, staff very friendly and rooms are everything you would expect. Pool nice (cold though). Location is ok, bit of a walk to anywhere, fine if you have a car.

I stayed the quest Mount Maunganui for the the peroid over christmas and new years with friends as we wanted to have a nice time away by a beach. On check in we were very impressed with the rooms and overall were having a good stay (despite there not being enough towels and the rooms were not serviced everyday). Our first problem with the management was when i went to go and get 3 pool towels for a swim. He told me in a grumpy way that if we did not return the towels we would be charged $20.00 per towel. I assured him thatt we were not planning on stealing his towel, we just wanted a swim and there were not enough towels in the room so we couldn't use them. AFTER i had paid i looked at the bill on the way home and saw that we had been charged $60.00 for towel usage, even though when we left we had left them folded up on the bench ( in a obvious way). I was furious, as i also was that we were made to clean up the cigarrete buts on our courtyard that had been dropped down from the rooms above (we were on the lower floor) - Overall rude and not good service, overpriced for the stay and then ripped us off even more for using their towels!!

I had emailed the manager prior to our stay asking about a BBQ and another sofa lounge, he said that would be fine, he would have it all set up. But of course it wasn't then when I went to ask him, he was annoyed at me ringing him before opening hours but I had wanted a BBQ because family was coming for breakfast. When we complained about the noise from an upstairs apartment - continueous swearing, drinking , yelling - the manager said "oh well you have to expect this as it is Christmas time" NO we don't have to expect it - your policy is no noise after 10pm - consider neighbours - etc etc - but unfortunately that didn't happen for us - we ended up checking out a day earlier - they should have paid us for staying there, not the other way around. Our washing machine broke - the roll away bed collapsed with my sister sleeping on it, they couldn't replace it so gave us an old mattress from their store room, which smelt - a cupboard that housed the pots and pans was broken so every time you opened it, it fell down. Those silly blinds in the loungeroom are okay if you don't sleep in there - they advertise a sofa bed for someone to sleep on but those blinds make it hard when the sun comes up to stay asleep!!

Really this place needs a new manager, someone who does care about their customers, someone who does what they say they will do and someone who is interested.

never again would I stay here, especially for the money it cost - I would also not recommend it.

We arrived later in the day - but within the advertised office opening hours to find the office wide open, but no one in sight. At first I politely waited, then rang the buzzer, then banged on the door marked "private". Eventually I went back to the car and phoned on my mobile. The manager returned from the depths of the garage where he'd been fixing something . . . not much of an apology; just told us we should've booked in. I promptly retrieved my booking voucher from a well known travel agency chain. He checked his book, and found he did have us - just didn't notice! OK. He did help us up to the room, as the lift wasn't working, and the room/apartment was excellent. No complaints with that, or the spa/pool, which was great. However the Quest's position was in the middle of no-where, so a long walk to the restaurant area. If, like us you like to be able to walk to dine, so that you can enjoy a drink or two with dinner, this is not a suitable place to stay. Speaking of dinner - check out the chinese restaurant in the strip before you get to the very end near the mount. It has an 'all you can eat night' that is great value. Wish I'd known about it when last there with my four children!

I booked my stay through Wotif.com. My husband and I accompanied our teenaged daughter to a National Classical Singing competition in Tauranga. Rather than travel back and forth from Rotorua and risk being late for competition, we booked a lovely looking serviced apartment at the Mount, for 2 nights. We only needed to stay for one night, but I booked and paid for 2 so that we had somewhere for my daughter to change outfits on the second day (classical competitions involve the full gowns and fancy hair does, jewellry, practise, focusing etc... you get the idea, lol). On the second day our final section was a 7.30-ish, and we finished up by 10.30pm. I paid for the night, but we left aroun 11-ish and headed home.

At around 6pm I went to reception to complete check in. Having read the brochure in the room, it stated that reception was only open during set hours (maybe 7am - 9pm-ish, regular sort of hours, cant remember exactly). Rather than disturb the managers when I needed to leave later, I went down to settle the mini-bar bill and let them know I would be vacating early. I went to reception and said to the manager: "Hi, we will be leaving early , about 11pm this evening, after my daughter has finished her singing competitions. I just thought I would come down now and finalise our bill, so that I didnt need to disturb you out of hours. His reply was "Well, I wish you had let us know earlier! We could have let the room. We had cleaners come through you know, and people waiting, but your things were everywhere!"
His tone was demeaning and I felt terrible, berated and put in my place. I answered: "But we have paid until tomorrow, I thought you would be pleased to know that we had left early. Im telling you now so I don't disturb you."
His response was: " What? Oh. Well, THEY must have made a mistake. I thought you were only booked in for one night. Guess I made a prat of myself. Never mind. Thats $xxxxx.
Let's face it folks -- its been a year now, and IM NOT OVER IT!!! He was sooooooooooooooooooo rude. I had paid in advance, through WOTIF, for the 2 nights ----- I was being so polite letting him know at 6pm, not at 11.30pm when I needed to leave. I NEVER make a fuss.... despite the fact that the 2 bedroom apartment was freezing, and only had the tiniest, tiniest fan heater (ONE ONLY) to cover 2 bedrooms, one lounge and a kitchen, while it was 2 degrees outside..............incredibly cold snap, snowing on the back road to Rotorua..........and still he was so dismissive of me. AND, creepy, creepy -- I have visions of the cleaning staff going through our rooms, and all of our stuff -- I wasn't expecting anyone and left the suitcases open. Just what did he get them to do when he thought we were supposed to have left?

My children's singing and drama activities have taken me all over the country and I have used any hotels and apartments, and I have NEVER, EVER, been treated as if I was so beneath someone's contempt before.

DO NOT STAY HERE. I will never stay here again. How dare they take my money and make me feel as if I had ripped them off. I felt as reprimaned as a 2 year old. Damn that silly man in his bow tie, he spoilt a rare family occaison for my eldest daughter -- with 2 younger sisters, she hardly ever gets to be the sole focus of attention.

My poor treatment at this apartment complex is my overwhelming memory of the Tauranga Singing competitions.

No thank you!
