“Brasserie evening”
Reviewed November 16, 2013

We enjoyed our food, which was beautifully presented as well as tasting delicious. House Sauvignon excellent and it was good to be asked the size of glass we would like rather than being automatically given the 175cl. Warm welcome and thoughtful service all evening by attentive but not obsequious staff. Not a lot of atmosphere (quiet evening?) but a lovely log fire to cheer us. Perhaps a little expensive, though we could have had a cheaper set menu. As it was a celebration dinner, we didn't mind on this occasion.

“A Quick Bite”
Reviewed November 9, 2013

We were driving through the Dales when we saw the sign for Hetton and had heard of the Angel's reputation. We were delighted to find that the Angel was a traditional pub with open fires, beams etc. The staff were friendly and helpful. As we had had a heavy meal the night before and a full English breakfast we only wanted something light so we just had one course each. The food was very good and was just what we needed. Having sampled what the Angel has to offer we have decided to go back and spend a night there so that we can fully sample the restaurant's offering.

“Fantastic food, service and location”
Reviewed October 30, 2013

I went to the Angel as a biirthday celebration with my partner. We ate in the brasserie rather than the restaurant. At first I thought this may not be the best option - it was excellent!

I had the charcuterie board to start, followed by the 30 matured sirloin steak then the 3 piece cheese board - all of it was brilliant. The cheeseboard was a bit small but very nice. All of this was washed down with a great bottle of red, espresso and a whisky. Excellent.

The service is just how we wanted it. Dont hang around taking the orders, but then dont rush you out of the door. We were there for 3 hours and never felt rushed. The staff are as attentive as you require, if you want a quick meal they will be quick if not they will let you take your time.

It was one of the best meals in the area, may be better than the Devonshire Arms!

“Won't be coming back”
Reviewed October 28, 2013

Revisiting the area and decided to pop in for some lunch. Had one drink and left. Whilst the location is excellent, the staff are pretentious, the food is over priced and the drinks average. Thanks but no thanks

“Magical Location plus great food”
Reviewed October 24, 2013 via mobile

I only had the opportunity to spend one afternoon, evening and night at the Angel while visiting this area of the UK for business.

The location is very picturesque with the hotel being set in lovely farming country with rolling hills and magic views.

The room I had was very comfortable , quiet and warm . We had a bit of rain overnight and low temperatures but sleeping was easy and apart for a little wind noise I was amazed at how quite the hotel was. Brilliant .

We had a great meal with business colleagues, the food and service was perfect. The staff and manager (owner?) were very helpful and we enjoyed chatting to them about the meal.

I will be back I'm sure but next time will stay longer and explore the countryside more.
