We couldn't get food in any of the local pubs but these guys were really welcoming and provided lovely individually prepared meals well after their normal service times. Other clearly local customers moved tables to accommodate us (a party of 8) and John (the patron) provided the floor show.

Freshly caught local trout, lamb shank and a tasty (not too salty) gammon steak were the highlights but puddings were good too. Good honest English food served with humour!
Just lovely to find a place like this so unexpectedly in such a beautiful but remote location.

“Gem of a restaurant”
Reviewed October 3, 2013

The best home cooked meals in upper Wharfedale. Quality and price second to none. John and Gordon who run it are the stars along with Chris and Bob. Well worth a visit. Drinks very reasonably priced. John makes you feel very welcome and is an all round entertainer, a laugh a minute. Once you have been you will visit again and again.

“Chatty Man”
Reviewed May 19, 2013

A tiny little eatery with a homespun feel and cooking which is usually done by one of two (or three) young brothers with the maitre di serving table and entertaining the punters. Quite a star turn this guy on a good day - from local gos. to celebs. and who's driving what car - you could be forgiven for thinking you were listening to the original chatty man. The menu is quite limited as expected for such a small place but we all enjoyed the food - no musing over the wine list though - house red or a house white wine along with some bottled beers are you alcohol choices . We had a great evening and came away having had a completely new experience of Yorkshire life.Go on you know you like it you cheeky monkey.

“Great cakes and hot chocolate”

With one of the best views in Wharfedale, the food and service are outstanding. Ideal for cyclists and plenty of seats outside for those with dogs.
