“Excellent hearty food”
Reviewed August 4, 2014

Ate here with friends on Friday night (I have eaten here before) and the food was excellent with big portions. Nice pub with decent choice of real ales too. Haven't actually stayed here but friends have at the end of last year and were positive about it.

I recently spent a night here with some friends on a walking weekend away. The hotel is a tale of two halves! Our bedroom was lovely ,spacious and themed, however on closer inspection it needed some attention to detail in cleanliness. Our friends rooms were quite impressive too and we all had huge baths with plenty of hot water.
Downstairs however the decor and furnishings did not reflect the thought and style put into the bedrooms. There are still lots of cobwebs and generally it needs some loving care. It lacks atmosphere which is a shame as it's in a great location and could be a really lovely place to stay.
The food was ordinary but ok , and at dinner we were not even offered the sweet menu! Told it was too late! Our table was booked for 7.30 pm!

Terrible!!! The staff the served me were rude and didn't care!!! I ordered a Mixed Meat Ploughman's which said it came with a 'selection of cold meats'. When my meal arrived it was the poorest looking ploughmans I have ever seen, basically a ham salad on a board!!! I asked the waiter why I only had ham and he said that I was wrong it wasn't a selection of meats!!! My partner ordered Lasagna with Chips and garlic bread and they didn't bring out any chips so she had to wait 10 minutes for her chips to arrive!!! When I went to pay I pointed out on the menu that the Ploughmans was supposed to have a selection of cold meats and they just looked at me like I had two heads!!! THIS PLACE IS POOR AT BEST. I wouldn't recommend it. Try the Fountain at Linton just a few miles away this is fantastic and in a different league, great food, great service.

We've just come back from a week in the area after visiting the Grand Depart, and velo-festival, taking in some walking - but we always finished the day by having a drink in the Tenants Arms. The weekend was heaving to say the least but the staff remained friendly and everyone had the queuing system organised to help the staff....
Once the weekend was finished the pub was a lot quieter, the staff were very friendly and helpful and chatty and we all discussed the weekend and they were very welcoming.

Hubby was very pleased with the beer.

We stayed here during Way of the Roses cycling tour (coast to coast and back again). The staff were very helpful and friendly which is great at the end of a day of cycling. There was a very secure lock up for our bikes and breakfast arrangements were amended to suit our early start.
We also enjoyed a pleasant meal in the bar during both our outbound stay and our return stay.

Have been coming here for years and always look forward to coming back. The breakfast and evening meals are superb and they are extremely dog friendly. The majority of the staff are welcoming and extremely helpful. It is a good centre for seeing the dales in all their glory. The rooms are a little tired and as some other reviewers have commented there are cobwebs in the dining room around the windows, however overall it is a great experience and a place to treasure, when visiting the dales. We will be back.

Room Tip: A great pub with accomodation and good food
