Las Flores Tapas Bar and Restaurant. Ordered our usual favorites at Las Flores, one of the best new restaurants in the Fort located at the ground level of One Mckinley. Must order dishes are the Tabla de Embutidos, Gambas and Pulpo a la Gallega! Chef is from Barcelona so expect authentic Spanish Tapas in a very cozy setting! Check out our video below:

We had lunch yesterday in Las Flores with 2 other friends upon my high recommendations. It was my 2nd time, but first for my 2 other friends. We ordered the croquetas con chorizo and gambas al ajillo, which were both excellent. For the main course we had black paella, a stewed fish dish with shrimps and clams and a beef dish. The fish dish overpowered the paella while the beef was too rich for the paella. Wrong combination of food! But individually, they were excellent. For dessert, we had cheesecake, cholatissimo and a sort of fruit salad. We also had coffee/tea to wash down the rich food. Overall, good quality food, though a bit on the pricey side. The place has good ambiance, quiet and elegant, good place to go for power lunches and/or romantic dinners.

Let's start with the good. Food was excellent. Chef Pepe Llopez's offerings are unique, authentic, and very delicious. Las Flores' food definitely sets it apart from your run-of-the-mill tapas restaurant all over the Metro. Ambience is nice too. Very chic, but cozy at the same time. The prices won't burn a hole in your pocket. In fact, it'll leave you wondering how they can charge so little for such good food.

Now for the not so good. The service has a lot of improving to do. I called around 9AM to make a reservation for 7PM. The person who answered the telephone, puts the phone aside to check their reservation list and mutters "ang aga naman tumawag nito" (this person called too early). She probably didn't think I'd hear her. Whether or not I heard her, it's just rude. When we got there, despite the reservation, the table wasn't set up. The servers lack coordination. This was evident as well at near the end of the meal. We ordered dessert, so the server assigned to us laid down dessert spoons on our table. After a minute or so, the F&B manager comes to us and goes "would you like to order desssert?". Uhh... we did... hence the dessert spoons currently on the table. Of course we didn't say this out loud. The saving grace for the service was that Uri Singla's brother, was very attentive to the guests, bringing out dishes himself, suggesting wines, and asking them how they meals were. It's a welcome touch that an owner is around to be part of the dining experience.

Las Flores is a wonderful restaurant. Definitely go eat there. The only reason I'm dropping my rating from excellent down to average, is because of the service.

Las Flores is a relatively new Spanish tapas-style restaurant located in a residential part of BGC. It is owned and operated by some very capable and dedicated Spanish guys – one of whom we almost always see at the restaurant. The restaurant has a really good atmosphere, and is a nice place for a romantic night out. The food is good (but not fantastic), and the menu is quite varied with some interesting options. The tapas-style portions are not huge, but good value considering the prices. The ingredients seem of good quality, and food preparation and presentation is generally good. We have repeatedly ordered the mixed cold cuts / cheese, pork belly, Russian salad, seafood paella, quiche (although they seem to have stopped that), croquetas with chorizo, and vegetable risotto. Of the desserts, the warm chocolatisimo with ice cream is fantastic. The coffee is also excellent. The Spanish wines are generally good value and some come by the glass (often generous servings, depending on the waitress). Oh, and they make fantastic gin and tonic!

We have eaten at Las Flores many times and both food and service has been consistently good. While the food itself may not be 5-star gourmet quality, the great service, warm atmosphere, good variety, and overall excellent value for money makes this one of our favorite restaurants in Manila.
