Clean and comfortable. Easy to book. Pub across the garden. Friendly locals, £70 incl 2 dogs. Excellent breakfast. Good views. Room a bit small for a long stay but then the pub was welcoming and had plenty of space. Money went to a local business. All in all very good.

This was a hidden and unexpected gem!
The accommodation, tucked behind the inn, was lovely-clean and tidy and quite private with lovely views of the countryside.
The owners and staff of the inn were warm, friendly and very welcoming. We need not search any further than the inn itself for restaurants or a place to drink as the food was excellent and the bar, a friendly place to drink.
Breakfast was served in the Inn and we have no complaints whatsoever! A delicious hot breakfast on top of continental options.
The location was a good base for travelling anywhere in Cornwall or Devon as well as being right on top of the Dartmoor National Park.

We stayed three nights in the accommodation in the courtyard of the pub. We had a 7' bed, super shower, and the room was warm and comfortable. Very modern, clean and lovely linen and towels. Tea and coffee making facilities too. The views were outstanding. Plenty of seating outside to enjoy the scenery and bike racks are available. We ate in the restaurant for the three nights and found the menu was varied with quality food and reasonably priced wine. Breakfast had a super continental buffet to start and a good choice of home cooked food too. Daily papers available. The waitresses were very attentive and courteous. Thank you Milly. A great atmosphere. Loved the fact that the accommodation was behind the pub, very safe, plenty of parking. We will be back.

Room Tip: Good location between Tavistock and Okehampton.

We stayed at the Mary Tavy Inn during August 2011. We booked directly through the inn website. Our room was excellent, lovely views over the valley which on a dry summers evening would have ideal to sit out in the garden area an take in.

Unfortunately we arrived in drizzle! However the welcome of the inn made up for it. Garry was there to welcome us when we arrived and made us feel at home. We were pleased to hear that, despite being a Sunday, they were serving food.

We went to our room to freshen up from a days walking. The shower was hot, there was plenty of tea and coffee and even somewhere to put muddy boots.

We then headed back to the bar. Despite their being a birthday part for some 40 guests going on in the restuarant we we served with care and efficiency. Our meal arrived in good time and tasted delicious. The waitresses were very attentive checking that we we were happy with everything - and we were. We were too full to attempt a pudding!

I expect the party went on quite late but we could not hear any noise from our room. One of the reasons we chose the Mary Tavy is that the accomodation is seperate from the main pub.

After a good nights sleep Breakfast was a relaxed affair - there was no sense of being hurried. Newspapers available to read and plenty of coffee.

An excellent place to stay on the edge of Dartmoor.

Clean modern rooms freindly staff and regulars, home cooked food freshly prepared, a breakfast that will set you up for the day and all good value for money. The location is a great base for exploring the Devon/ Cornwall sites.

We arrived dripping wet on bicycles and the new owners made us feel very welcome. Our room was a newly-built, self-contained unit with a bike-rack behind, and was very clean and finished to a good standard.

The evening meal was homemade and good value and the service was efficient and friendly, despite the pub being busier than usual.

Breakfast in the morning was very relaxed, and we were able to enjoy reading the papers in comfort after eating (while waiting in vain for the rain to pass before setting out again).

Overall, a very enjoyable and comfortable stay, and many thanks to the owners for their hospitality. Would definitely recommend.
