“A gem”

Excellent food, excellent people, you just have to meet Sidney's grandfather. The Lamb, being French, is the very best.

“Truly unique experience!”
Reviewed February 23, 2013

Of the 365 days of 2012, three were truly special. Those were the days I spent at Le Calabash, for the memorable time I had cooking delicious meals seasoned with laughter and joy.
Sidney and Alison are truly knowledgeable chefs who create a magic environment around cooking and sharing their stories and expertise. No matter your cooking skills, at Le Calabash you will feel confident to experiment and to enjoy yourself in a relaxed learning environment.
I was honored to be their first brazilian guest-student, and I have already spread the word to family and friends back in Brazil!

Dear Cecilia
Thank you so much for you kind words and review. It is such a pleasant surprise hearing from you as we have thought about you and were wondering how you and the cooking were doing? It is us that are honoured to have had you as a guest at le Calabash, our first Brazilian client and a obviously talented cook. Please keep in touch and posted on your cooking adventures.

“What a delightful culinary journey”
Reviewed February 17, 2013

Sid and Ali present the art of Cordon Bleu cookery in their lovely cookery school, in the heart of France. Not only knowledgeable and highly communicative in the way they present their courses, they also produce wonderful, wonderful food. If you want to learn how to cook from two down to earth but expert chefs, The Bonds are the couple to go to see.

“Culinary Nirvana”
Reviewed December 13, 2012

Having just returned from a week at the Le Calabash cooking school in the Loire valley, I would highly recommend it to anyone with an interest in food and cooking. The owners, Sidney and Alison Bond are two amazingly accomplished chefs who have created a warm and welcoming environment in which to learn and explore cooking. Working in the well-equipped facilities feels like hanging out in someone’s home kitchen. Under Sidney and Alison’s guidance I was able to make dishes that I would never have believed possible. Besides cooking, day trips to the surround area provided sight seeing opportunities as well as a chance to see first hand how food of exceptional quality is grown and created. I think that anyone who spends time at Le Calabash, from the most inexperienced home cook to an expert chef, will leave with new skills and knowledge shared by two of the nicest people that I have ever met.

“A unique experience in the heart of rural France!”
Reviewed December 2, 2012

I had an opportunity to participate in a Macarons cooking course last month. I had never made them before but by the end of this course not only did I understood how to make them I felt confident that I could make them easily enough at home as well. Alison and Sidney are very patient and experienced teachers. I really liked how Alison demonstrated how to make them first and then we got to make them ourselves and experience for ourselves the process of making them. Although I got a little help, I felt proud of the fact that I was able to successfully create some tasty Lemon Macarons! Alison and Sidney truly care about their clients and really want to provide a great experience for everyone who comes to their school. And of course, all the food was absolutely delicious! ! I think anyone who is looking for a unique food adventure in the heart of rural France will totally enjoy their cooking courses.
