It's with slight regret that I am submitting this review, for fear of adding to this Pub/Restaurant's popularity (which may prevent me being able to get a reservation in the future).

The Coldstreamer at Gulval is just outside of Penzance but the trip is well worth the journey.

The staff are all welcoming, polite and very knowledgeable - there is a "passion" for service that is exemplary!

The food is very reasonably priced and simply delicious. The menu is varied (locally sourced) and the wine list is carefully considered.

All in all a really excellent dining experience.

We didnt stay in the accommodation, just went for food. The menu was interesting, with plenty of choice. All the courses were presented beautifully and the taste was fabulous. Altogether an excellent meal and would definately recommend the Coldstreamer for food.

The food was excellent, second to none. The manager was very friendly and helpful. Nice walk from Penzance town centre to towards Marazion and St Michaels Mount.

Really like the food here cooked by a chef who used work as sous chef in the Michelin Star Abbey Restaurant in Penzance. Good wine list. Choice of bar or restaurant area and lovely beer. Nice to see a place that isn't just about the food but dioes the food just right. Modern British with some stand out dishes

There were seven in our party for an evening meal in August.
We were encouraged by other reviewers. Therefore we made a reservation about 10 days prior to our visit.
Greeting was a little chaotic. We were served our first round of drinks at the fairly crowded bar.
Later, we were shown to our table.
We were met at our table by Vincent. Vincent is Belgian with perfect English. However, he was supercilious but tried to disguise this with some banter. This failed to mask his sneery attitude and he was short and dismissive in tone.
When we asked him if there was any choices in the "Chefs Choice" [ one can have mystery dishes as an offer ], he replied negatively "That's why it's the chefs choice". It was a fair question, especially as we had two members of our party with certain food allergies and there was no need for his abruptness.
My partner asked for Samphire with her salad to be told that she could only have that with a main dish.
Her salad was so salty, it was inedible. I tasted it also and can confirm this. I know we should have complained but by this time we felt a little browbeaten.
The main courses were just tolerable.
The bill was pricey, about the same for our visit to the excellent Bay restaurant in Penzance.
On the plus side they took the Telegraph Card and the local draught beers were good
