We live and farm locally and have very little time off - so since the refurbishment of The Coach and Horses find that with our rare spare time we can find very friendly landlords - a great buzzing smiling team of staff, an excellent chef and great food - excellent value for money. Well priced too - so good to get properly sourced local food that is bound to cost a little more than a standard pub experience so it is a treat these days to get great quality rather than the standard fare offered in most places.
Could just not see how the very long review below reflected the standards of this pub and restaurant - I must admit that I wondered whether the person posting this had another agenda or whether it was the result of the drastic flooding that we experienced on that week in this area, with his expectations in difficult times or the pub coping in extreme situations, although we visited at this time and had excellent Fish and Chips with a homemade beer batter.
My only comment in any negative way would be that yesterday with an hour off for lunch I ordered the Camembert, baked in the pizza oven - it came with sweet potato chips, salad and flat breads - everything tasted wonderful and was perfect but the huge portion size overwhelmed me - but then that is my appetite and I shall ask for a smaller portion in future.
For excellent food, happy staff and a landlord on the premises, a very rare treat I would say give it a go and try for yourselves.
For us on several occasions this has been a very positive experience.
