“Perfect family friendly beach side property”
Reviewed May 24, 2017 for a stay in April 2017

We loved our stay at Seadrift. As a family of four with two young boys everything we could have possibly needed was thought of, including a shed full of beach toys. The hammock was a big hit too!
The living area was big, airy and spacious and has beautiful views reaching to the top of the sand dunes, watching the sun go down was pretty spectacular.
A thoroughly lovely place to stay, we hope to visit again soon.

“Fantastic weekend at Seadrift”
Reviewed May 8, 2017 for a stay in April 2017

We stayed at Seadrift for a long weekend with 5 friends in April. Overall the house is fantastic - the main living room is very light and has great views over the dunes. All rooms are good in size and have comfortable beds. It's a 2 min stroll to the beach and easy to get a bus to Rye.

Thanks so much for an awesome weekend at Seadrift.

“Great venue for a beach holiday”
Reviewed November 10, 2016 for a stay in October 2016

We took our grandchildren (11 years and 5 years old) to this lovely holiday home for the half-term holiday. They thoroughly enjoyed the beautiful beach - flying kites and climbing sand-dunes. Great base from which to visit places of interest for children - Herstmonceux science park, Battle Abbey, and the crazy golf at Hastings. The house itself was very cozy, and had everything we could have needed. A great place for a family holiday. Hopefully we will visit again in the future.

Reviewed September 15, 2016 for a stay in August 2016

We really enjoyed our stay here at sea drift, it was a lovely spacious house with all you need inside it. The garden was also lovely my 6 year old and my 3 year old especially liked how many butterflies came into the garden at this time of year. It's in a lovely location right near the beach and the corner shop incase you run out of anything. The noise from Pontins is not a problem what so ever as stated in a previous post, you can barely hear it. We all really loved it here and would definatly recommend this lovely house to anybody.

“An Excellent Property to rent”
Reviewed August 30, 2016 for a stay in August 2016

Seadrift is wonderful holiday accommodation. It is bright, airy and very clean. It is a short walk to the beach which is great with small children. The garden to the property is secure for the children. I would recommend the property for a nice holiday.

“Be warned!, if you don't leave spotless you will loose your full deposit”
Reviewed June 4, 2016 for a stay in May 2016

My advise is not to stay here, particularly with children as you will have to leave the place absolutely spotless. We broke a bowl which we were charged £10, which was fine, but lost our full security deposit because the place was not spotless when we left. Noisy Pontins late at night is a bigger problem.

The property is all wooded creaky floors and a bit noisy at night when others are trying to sleep down stairs. You have to try your hardest to keep everything clean all the time in order to avoid loosing the full security deposit for cleaning, but this is how it works at this property. Don't be fooled by landlords response to this, we left it in good order, spent several hours cleaning. Its really NOT like staying at a hotel, don't expect that from the rental property owners. Take your own towels, don't get any dirt on the shower floor towels. We did our best to keep it as clean as possible, which is stressful when your on holidays as you can imagine. The owners will not give you an email address to contact them with, you have to go through the site you booked on. When you leave they will send you a message through the site that they are keeping the security deposit for cleaning the property and they kill the link on the site so you can't respond to them. Don't be fooled about the owner wanting a place beside the sea to take her grand kids on holiday. This is part of a rental business, it's business, so treat it like that. Check it's location on Google maps, very close to Pontins which is very noisy at night and this was our biggest problem.

When you get to the property you will get telephone numbers of the owners and their cleaners. Take my advise don't call any of them, the owners claimed to be in Hong Kong when we had issues with the shower. The house keeper (cleaning company) in particular was defensive and unpleasant to deal with. Contacting them will take the shine off your holiday and will leave you stressed about their place your staying in. Ironically the place was not that clean when we got there.

Most importantly you have to sign a lease, your totally responsible for the property, again NOT like staying at a hotel. You should consider taking out insurance for the week to protect your self financially. Anything happens to the building while your there, you will have to pay in full, not the landlords, read the lease before signing. We will stick to hotels in future after this stressful and noisy break.

This property is NOT suitable at all for children under 6 as it has two very steep stair wells, which kept us on our feet, our youngest fell down and hurt herself. Difficult to relax when your constantly watching them. They provide stair guards which are different to the ones you normally have, too difficult to use and get stuck all the time, so you don't end up using them.

On the up side, the property is very close to the beach which is very big and long with lots of room for everyone even on hot days with outside showers for cleaning (not working at property). Beach is beautifully sandy with fabulous dunes for the kids to play in. Also plenty of shops to buy sea side stuff and nice cafe's right on the beach. Pontins is however very very close to the rental property. Lots of music late at night, difficult to sleep some nights. In summary Camber sands is great, love the sandy beach, you should go. No hotels, so a rental is your best option, but not this one, its too close to Pontins which is huge and noisy unfortunately late at night when your trying to sleep.

We take guest feedback very seriously and before we read this review, we had already reconciled differences and returned his deposit minus the cost of the broken bowl. We outlined further costs of damage, but have agreed to cover the cost of this ourselves.

Following this guest’s concerns, we would like to respond to give future guests what we feel is an accurate account of what they can expect at our property.

Cleaning:
On this occasion, cleaning charges far exceeded the norm; we did not pass this charge onto the guest. In three years of rental, we have previously not even had to suggest retaining a damage deposit.

Contact:
Guests receive a seven page information sheet prior to their booking, which we feel covers everything they need to know about the property and local area. We do however include contact numbers for myself (daughter of the owner), the owner, and our Housekeeper in case guests need anything during their stay. It is very rare that both myself and my mother are away at the same time, but were in Hong Kong for my brother’s wedding when the guest needed assistance late on a Saturday evening (UK time). The answer to two of his queries – how to switch the TV from DVD to Sky and how to adjust the heating – were included in the information sheet; a copy of which is kept in the house for guests to refer to. The outside shower had been turned off for the winter period and the housekeeper has since turned it back on for guests to use. We are sorry for any inconvenience that this caused the guest.

We pay high fees to booking sites to protect both ourselves and our guests. Communication is via the site and we receive an alert via email and text as soon as someone contacts us; anyone can see from our response rate that we come back to guests as quickly as possible. From Hong Kong I emailed the guest as soon as I received his message and my mother phoned him. We did not receive a response so checked with the housekeeper that his questions had been answered. Conversation through the site remains open, even following a guest’s departure. In this instance, I am glad that all conversation has taken place through the site, as we received several aggressive threats; thankfully we were able to resolve issues in a reasonable manner.

Children’s safety:
Safety gates are Lascal Kiddiguard Avant Child Safety Barriers, in full working order and regularly checked. We hold a Four Star Gold Award from Visit England for the third year running. We have not received any other feedback from guests regarding the stair gates; we have guests with children returning for the third time this year. We recommend that parents of small children use the safety gates.

Pontins:
Pontins is 0.2 miles from the house and we have never heard noise from the resort ourselves or had feedback from any other guest that this has been an issue.

We would also like to share the feedback that we received from the guest after their stay, before we highlighted the breakages and need to retain the damage deposit:
“We had a wonderful time in your amazing house in Camber . Thank you do much , we will certainly be back in future years”

We hope that this guest’s feedback does not deter other guests from booking Seadrift and that enquirers look at the 26 five star reviews for more accurate views. We welcome all enquiries via the site if guests do have any concerns or questions about the property before booking.

“Nice home for a beach holiday”
Reviewed May 8, 2016 for a stay in May 2016

As we had fabulous weather (first week of May) you could really see this house was made for a beach holiday. Build to leave the sand behind down stairs, nice patio to sit, and just everything to have a very nice beach holiday. The surrounding houses are lower in height to you have a nice view towards land and sea. With whatever weahter the beaches of Camber Sands are clean, nice and you feel free to let the kids roam the beach. Rye is a must see. House was fit to standard for the price to pay. Only if you are as tall as we Dutch you will have to mind your head a lot in the living room. My reason to give this house a 4 star is the cleaness of kitchen and living room. Nice clean bathrooms and sleeping floor. Bring your own beach sand castle buidling equiment!
