We stayed at The Place Camber Sands for a couple of nights in February. We were looking for a short break not too far from London at a location where we felt we would get ‘the wind in our hair.’ I surfed the net putting in hip hotels as a guide. The Place Camber Sands website came up as one of the hotels in this category and we were instantly impressed. It was cleanly designed, easy to use and the site was full of useful information such as menus, tariffs and pictures of the interior of the hotel particularly the rooms and the brasserie, as well information and photographs of the surrounding countryside.
When we arrived, the receptionist was very helpful and friendly. In fact throughout our whole stay everybody at the hotel was really friendly and smiley. Our double room, although not big was beautifully decorated, the bed fabulously comfortable and had all the bits that we needed for our getaway from it all couple of days – TV, DVD even a digital radio. Whoever did the interiors really makes sure the rooms are kept spotlessly clean including a great white bathroom. Only point is the shower pressure not that great but just about good enough.
The food in the brasserie was fantastic. People go on about local produce and freshness, but this food really was delicious. You could taste the sea in the fish and the sweet salty flavours in the Romney Marsh Lamb. Best food we’ve had in ages.
Great place for a short break
