About 1 hour 45 mins from London. Miles of beautiful sands. When tides in beach looks packed but as tide goes out people spread out and it can take up to 20 mins to reach the sea...it's heaven. Car parks and cafés, shops, and boat swings and bouncy castle..take your kids on the next sunny day but take the sun cream and avoid windy days.

About and hour and a half drive from London, but it's worth it. 7 miles of long sandy beach with plenty of space for everyone even on a crowdy weekend. Walk around the beach to collect shells or fly a kite. There is another nearby place called kite beach, so a lot of beauty in the sky. There are two restaurants - cafés on the beach with food and ice cream to offer, but you can happily picnic on the beach too. Toilet facilities are close to the beach, as well as the parking and the village.

This beach is a family favourite as it has such fantastic sand, but beware of the dog poo that's way past the sign for where dogs should not be allowed!

We came to Camber Sands while we were holidaying in Hastings, it was about a half hour drive. On arrival we realised the parking was £5 for half a day or £10 for a full day, which seemed a bit steep but as it is a free attraction, I guess they have to make some money to keep it so nice. And it really is gorgeous - soft pale sand as far as the eye can see, proper sand dunes and shallow waters, perfect for our toddler son.

There are only a few outlets for food and souvenirs and these really could be improved - they are a bit shabby and the food is not the highest quality. They were doing some work to the food place so hopefully that is improving but really it could be something special, considering the place itself is so wonderful. The little shops sold the usual array of beach balls, buckets and spades but weirdly no postcards, a shame as I wanted to send some. Maybe they are old-fashioned but nice to send your Mum!

The loos were good and clean and we had a wonderful day, the seagulls are massive and insistent but it wasn't a problem. I would recommend a visit to anyone in the area looking for a proper beachy day out.

Oh and we stopped on the way home at one of the many roadside fruit sellers for some cherries which were delicious!

Just outside of Rye. Plenty of parking. Hut with drinks and ice cream on site. Quite a climb up sand dunes to the beach but well worth it. Great beach mainly to sand with a few pebbles.
