Dalen Bed and Breakfast
Reviewed July 15, 2013

We spent a long day driving from Oslo to Dalen and were ready to stretch and rest. The rooms are updated and very nice, but small. There aren't any extras such as soap in the bathrooms. The town is small and doesn't have much for lodging choices, but it is much less expensive than the Dalen Hotel. We had to leave early in the morning and the innkeeper had breakfast ready for our group earlier than normal. The breakfast didn't have any hot items to go with the cereal, fruit, breads, meat and cheese, so we were disappointed about that. We slept with the windows open for the fresh air, but we had noisy people outside our room late at night.

Dalen is a beautiful place to stay in the Telemark valley, lots of woods and wildlife to spot. The B&B Dalen is owned by a Belgium couple. He's a very friendly man, the lady of the house doesn't show herself to much whit the guests. The rooms are a bit expencive and inside most of the rooms are very narrow and quite difficult to handle. To small if you have any lugagge. For that price you should have a spacious room. Breakfast is OK, but thats all.
Only the right spot in this area is the only reason to be here...

Comfortable rooms, basic breakfast but friendly hosts with great directions for guaranteed moose viewing( tried to see moose in 3 separate countries in the wild finally saw them here). Bit pricy for a family of 4 as needed 2 rooms.

I found this place while looking for an overnight stay, driving from Oslo to Stavanger. The owner, a serviceminded Belgian it turned out, easily made a booking on telephone and welcomed us upon arrival. We found the rooms clean and with good mattresses, with a typical cosy norwegian cabin feeling. The owner guided me, my teenager son and his two friends to a very nice restaurant down by the water, where we participated in a quiz. We made the decision that the first prize, a voucher to eat at the restaurant, should be given the owner as a present. We lost...
The owner voluntered information about the place, very un-norwegian! The breakfast was tasty and plentiful. We left the place with good feelings and will definitely consider it next time passing Dalen. Bring cash to pay, cash mashine although in close vicinity.

Stayed here when we where working in Dalen. It is placed in the middle of the community Dalen, that is OK, but the place is overpriced due to the fact there are to few places to stay. Not very good service either.
Dalen Hotel is to be preferred even if the prices are higher.
Or as we did; rented cabins at http://grovencamping.no/ which is a very nice place; but you have to make your own breakfast....

By the way; if you are in Dalen make a stop at Dalen Brygge, the restaurant is excellent...

We just stayed at Dalen B&B on our way to Oslo. Dalen is extremely beautiful and the B&B is located near the small town which has a couple of restaurants and a supermarket. We had a double bedroom with en suite which was clean. The owners gave us good recommendations regarding scenic routes and things to do in the area. We ate at the restaurant by the harbor which has the best view of the lake and went over to Dalen Hotel for drinks (highly recommend).

Travellin in TELEMARK to pass through DALEN is a MUST !!! Definitely beautiful but to sleep there it can be avoided especially because it is incredibly expensive. Much better to sleep somewhere in a parallel valley and pass through Dalen during the day. Dalen B&B is in the centre of the village, outside it looks beautiful , in a pleasant position but inside all the rooms very narrow and quite difficult to handle for more than 1 night. Breakfast......nothing unforgettable.
