The gorgeous riverside location is the main pull of this sprawling pub but it also has a good selection of drinks, cosy fireside and little person friendly conservatory. Food is typical gastropub, fairly expensive and pretty average. A nice place to cosy up and stare at the rain or watch the sun go down on a summer evening.

My wife likes the bar more than I do and it was her choice for dining. Having looked at the menu online, I thought it looked limited and overpriced and didn't fancy the idea of frites as opposed to proper chips with most things.

However when we arrived there were two special menus at £17 for 2 courses and a drink or £20 for 3 courses and a drink. One menu was called saints, which had healthy options accompanied by a maximum calorie count, and the other called sinners, had less healthy choices such as pie and battered fish. There were 4 choices for each of the 3 courses and it was possible to mix and match from each menu so there was plenty of choice.

Starters were average but main courses and deserts were very good. I love slow cooked beef and my wife enjoyed her healthy seared tuna. Therefore well done to the chef and well done to management for offering a good quality good value menu to tempt us to part with our money in January.

There has been criticism of the service and downstairs it can be iffy. We were upstairs and the guy who runs the show up there does a fabulous job doing most things himself with a little unskilled help from the others.

A group of us went to Harts Boatyard for lunch today and wished we hadn't bothered. The service was dreadful and the food was disappointing. It took more than half an hour to be served with a glass of wine. There was no vegetarian option for roast lunch and you couldn't even have just the vegetables as the roast potatoes were cooked in goose fat. Final straw was finding spaghetti at the bottom of roast beef! I don't think we will go here again!

Booked for Christmas Day... never do it again, over priced, food absolutely terrible ruined the day. We booked and paid a month in advance and going on the reviews here were looking forward to a nice lunch in a great location. what i got was a plate of turkey, un cooked stuffing (or that was what I think it was) and a few potatoes, one small bowl of veg between 6 people. Sat at the table and got chewing gum stuck to my dress thanks to the previous diner, best bit came when paying bill and we were overcharged by almost 100 pounds!!!!!

Best in the summer but also provides a cosy environment with real fires. Top tips are Camembert in a box a joy to eat ! Nice to relax and catch up with friends or family. Service not always great often with queues at the bar - come on get more bar staff
