“Not going back”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed April 29, 2013 via mobile

I've never been to North Korea but I imagine their hotel rooms would be like the ones at hotel Bosco, very austere, plastic office chair with no cushion at the dressing table, no full length mirror, the room was made even more dingy by the lack of light, I can only assume this was a further attempt to emulate their North Korean counterparts.
The menu in the restaurant lacked imagination and was quite limited, fortunately there is a Chinese restaurant on the opposite side of the road.
There is also no on site parking but if you arrive after 6pm and leave before 8am you can park on the street if you can find a space.
In summary a slightly less comfortable (but more pretentious) version of a travel inn.

Dear Cptman C,

Thank you for taking the time to post a review, as all feedback is greatly valued.

I am sorry that the design of Hotel Bosco was not to your taste, as you can see the hotel receives many amazing reviews and positive feedback from loyal guests who love the contemporary features.

Our Bosco Lounge is a vibrant area, offering a varied dining menu, and is popular with both hotel guests and visitors. I am sorry that you were unable to find anything on the menu that you wished to order.

Unlike budget hotels, the hotel does offer complimentary secure car parking, wi-fi access, and other services and facilities.

I understand that you may not wish to return, but hope very much that you will contact me so that I can personally look after your next reservation, and that you can experience one of our Premium Rooms with private balcony.

The hotel is close to the railway station and there are some nice restaurants, coffee bars and lunch accommodations in the nearby environment.

The rooms themselves are also very nice, not very large, but everything you need. And the bathroom is very modern and nice. Their was only the minor detail that someone's stockings were still in our room (under the bed it was not cleaned).

If it was not for the bad service, this hotel has a lot of benefits. However, we were that disappointing in the service that I would not recommend to stay in this hotel. An example is that there is never someone at the reception and the women at the reception was not welcoming at all. Without exaggerating I can say that she has some issues with controlling, checking the guests. She focused in such a way that she even checked by monitor when we left the day before and entered. We therefore only stayed one night at the hotel.

Dear keikekop-rr,

Thank you for taking the time to post a review, as all feedback is greatly valued.

I am pleased to learn that you found the location to be excellent, and the room facilities modern.

Please accept my apologies that on this occasion, it appears that our normally high standard of housekeeping was not delivered.

As you can see from previous reviews the customer service that you received, is very much the exception and not the norm. However, I do thank you for bringing this to our attention, so that this issue can be addressed with the front of house team.

I appreciate that you feel that you do not wish to return, but hope that you will contact me so that I can personally look after your next reservation.

Sorry, but we found this hotel bland lifeless and badly designed. We were aware that the 'lounge' is well used with live music that goes on to the early hours and did ask for the quietest room in the hotel. On booking in the receptionist confirmed that we would be 'safe' in the back room on the first floor. Boutique hotels are renowned for being different which is why we are seduced into booking them to just stay somehwere different, but the room had no Boutique design about, It was just bland and badly designed. Reading is nigh impossible with the 'subdued' lighting. This isn't minimalist, justy no imagination. The bathroom was well fitted and good size, but we couldn't run a bath effectively because only really hot water comes out, you have to run the rain shower on cold to cool it down. Designer stubble is a must, because the lighting is so poor you just can't see what you are doing. No 'nice' touches, no tissues in the bathroom, there isn't even a full length mirror in the room. There are three things which were good though, the bed is possible the most comfortable we have slept in in a long time and the staff were really pleasant and it is very conventient for the station and buses.

Room Tip: Ask for a high floor at the back if you are going to stay here.

Dear Adenjo

Thank you for your review. I am sorry to hear that you felt the design of Hotel Bosco was not to your taste.

We receive many amazing reviews and much positive feedback from our many loyal and one of guests who love it! We are a lively hotel with a gorgeous bar downstairs and in terms of noise we offer a couple guest rooms which are above the lounge and therefore affected by residual noise on Friday and Saturday nights at a discounted rate. We make this clear at time of booking. These few rooms are perfect for guest enjoying a few late drinks or who are out at another engagement. I can therefore confirm this was explained to you at time of booking and you benefited from a discounted rate.

I am pleased to hear your positive comments about our team members at Hotel Bosco. I will certainly pass them on.

Once again, thank you for taking the time to leave your feedback.

Stayed there & trained to london, very nice staff, nice hotel, position, excellent for train as station 5 mins down road, half the price of london hotels & nicer! Surbiton nice and great river walk, good shopping centre & nice pub by riverside....Perfect for 2 day stay with plenty to do, there is also a nice long walk to hampton court palace (6 hrs on own!) Hotel gets very loud lively in bar area at night so bit of music comes through room (but we went down & had drink which was nice!)

The hotel was in an excellent location for us - a 2 minute walk to the station and 5 minutes from my sister's home.
We were greeted by the friendly service staff and check-in was quick and easy. Our room was clean and comfortable, with the bathroom being particularly well laid out.
The bed was rather low and too soft for my liking, however, there were extra pillows available to use if needed. There was ample wardrobe space although one of doors was difficult to close as the hinge was broken. There was no safe in the room to store valuables.
As mentioned, the bathroom was great with a rain shower, however, neither of us could figure out how to switch on the additional shower head and the handle to turn on the water fell off and was quite tricky to reattach.
Breakfast was fine but we would have preferred a cooked breakfast to be included seeing as a local cafe could provide a full English breakfast for £7.

This hotel could not be better placed for Surbiton railway station (15 mins to Waterloo) and for the local bus services to Kingston. We stayed here because there was not a suitable enough hotel in Kingston.
Reception was small but very efficient. Room was large, warm with a comfy, if low, bed. But only one chair, very unusual.
the bathroom was great, all that you could expect. But if Iwas the owners I wouldbe looking for money back from the builders. The tiling work is dreadful, but nothing that bothers the guest until you notice it.
Breakfast was fine.
All of the staff were very welcoming and friendly, and nothing was too much trouble.
The bar was nice but does not stock Smirnoff vodka or bottles or cans of coke/pepsi, only the horrible draught stuff.
We were not bothered by any noise.
On the whole a very nice hotel, very convently located, and there is a Wetherspoons next door for your cooked breakfast.
I can reccomend it, but I would also be careful how much you pay.

Excellent service and food. We had Family brunch which was very impressive: the sausage platter was excellent, full English was good but the bacon was a little undercooked however the eggs Florentine were first class. We were very impressed by the service: speed and quality.
