Interesting building. Lovely food in the small cafe. Good to see the library and computers being used when I've visited. A broad range of events happening there.

“Solution to parking problem? Cycle there...”
Reviewed February 11, 2013

If you are from outside of Caistor and worry about parking there is a solution - leave your car at home. I do - it's about 30 miles away.

Not only will you be helping with Caistor's parking problems you will find that the coffee tastes even better. It's the best coffee within cycling distance of Hull. Oh, kindly try to avoid on a Sunday because we would quite like a rest when we get there... and a large cappuccino each.

CB.

PS - that display behind the counter: there shouldn't be an apostrophe in the word 'houses'. I would have taken half a star off for that if I was allowed.

Not really. (I was being entirely serious about the Sunday thing either.)

Oh, if you must drive there make sure your handbrake works...

“INCREDIBLY GOOD”
Reviewed January 9, 2013

I can't think of anything at all negative to say..... The exhibition room may have exhibits that are not to everyone's taste but are still interesting. The Caistor Heritage artefacts are interesting, too. Having the main Caistor Library upstairs brings everything together, somehow and even the toilets are spotlessly clean. The little cafe on the ground floor is an utter joy - newspapers and magazines on tables for use by customers, small number of craft items, pictures etc. for sale. The coffee is excellent and the apparently home-made cakes are fantastic. Considering that the majority of the staff are actually volunteers, this is the sort of Community Project that EVERY town should have. Couldn't praise it highly enough.

Hello,

Firstly thank you so much for your lovely review. We are very proud of the whole project and are really pleased to see so many people using and enjoying the centre for many purposes daily. Each of our art displays are very different from the previous as we try to appeal to a wide variety of people and hopefully introduce more people to the wonders of art. We love our heritage, for such a small town there is so much history and its wonderful to have somewhere to display it. Our coffee and volunteers are definitely excellent and I can assure you our cakes are homemade and never bought in, homemade always taste the best.

We hope you visit again soon,

Kind Regards,

Emma

“great little place”
Reviewed December 21, 2012

I live just a few doors away from here and it's used often but don't bring your car. The number of times I've tried to get parked outside my own door and can't is unreal, they need to find some where for people to park without blocking resident's property's.

Thank you very much for your review, we'd like to apologise for our contribution to parking issues within to town but living in Caistor we're sure your as aware as we are that the only problem with this brilliant little town is the lack of parking. Where possible we do advice all customers to park in the market place and take the short stroll down to avoid blocking peoples houses and many of our regulars now leave their cars at home. Maybe one day someone will come up with the perfect solution to all of our parking issues within the town.

Kind Regards,

Emma

“A great community site”
Reviewed November 11, 2012

This site has made a huge difference to the town of Caistor since it opened last year. The useage by locals and vistors underlines that. They have a series of events and workshops for all ages, a number of which we have participated in. Yesterday we went on a history walk showing the Roman heritage of the town. We also took lunch before joining the walk. Both were excellent and good value.
