“Dirty & Noisy”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 22, 2013

Went to see the International Air Show this weekend and because my car was on display I needed a place to stay over for a couple of nights. So I booked the best room in the Fossebridge which boasted a four poster bed etc.

First impressions were disappointing. No shower and the room looked like it could do with a refurbishment. One of the windows had broken glass pains, the window frames were dirty. Paint on the window sills and skirting was tired and badly scratched through to the wood.

This unfortunately was not the worst features of the room. One of the glasses they have in the room for you to have water in had a dead fly squashed in the inside of the glass which looked like it had been there for a very long time. My wife found someone elses hair on the dresser, and there was dirt and grim all around the edges of pretty much every part of the room and the bathroom.
The four poster bed was very uncomfortable, and the materas looked like it had seen better times.
On the Friday night we were kept awake most of the night by a stag party being held at the premises and when I tried to complain there was no member of staff on call to talk to. When I mentioned this to the owner at checkout she seemed disinterested.
On the second day, the tea in the room was not replaced so we could not have our early morning tea which my wife and I like to have to help wake us up. The breakfast was poor with the exception of the eggs.
The only plus to this hotel is the evening meal which I must say is very good. But again there were problems with one customer walking out as they had forgotten about them and not served their starter.
Very pretty grounds and could be a great place to stay. but not as it is as the moment!

I stopped here for lunch and found the food and garden very enjoyable. The staff all seemed very helpful except for one young waitress with long dark hair in a pony-tail; who walked around like a shire hourse; who was so LOUD and pushy with the other staff that she ruined the atmosphere. Even outside, all you could hear was her constand talking about "a recent trip to Portugal!" - she paid no attention to guests and the other staff seemed thoroughly fed up with her! It's amazing how one person can really put you off a place!

The best and worst features of this hotel are its location. Best because within a 5 mile radius is some of the loveliest walking country in the world; worst because it lies on a very busy, noisy main road.

Rooms are fairly spacious and pleasant with a reasonably comfortable bed and good bathroom, but no face cloths or real soap only useless liquid hand wash.

Breakfasts are good and hearty and served in a lovely bright, big room. Sadly dinner is not served in the same room but in the rather dark, dingy bar. The wine list is very limited and food is variable. Some devilled lambs kidneys were superb, rack of lamb fairly good, but plaice poor. Service was also variable: It started well with a great deal of attention then deteriorated. We were asked if we would like pudding a good 40 minutes after we had finished the main course.

Staff were mostly friendly and courteous, though one senior member was snotty, difficult and rude. Considering that this Inn is in the heart of prime tourist country, its rates are fair and its food prices reasonable.

A lunch at the Fossebridge Inn was arranged by family members visiting from Canada and who were also staying there. On our arrival they said that a table for twelve should be booked two days in advance although had not bothered to inform our Canadian branch of the family when booking.
Reluctantly they gave us an upstairs table although it looked as though they were not at all busy and were peeved about the number they would have to serve.
Someone eventually arrived to take our orders, and despite it being quiet the food eventually arrived an hour layer and was almost cold. The pudding I wanted I was told was only available for children so I said I would have the children's portion which was duly plonked in front of me only to find later when in the garden adults were having double portions which I was not offered.

I am sorry to say that customer service was non existent and very slow especially when we asked separate bills for the six couples and were told this was not possible. Eventually a young man who appeared to be the only member of staff capable of sorting this out did so.

Superb location on the historic Fosse Way and the beer garden overlooks a beautiful lake at the back and has a sunny aspect for a summer's evening. We arrived on a Sunday night and although the Sunday night staff were not too sure about what they were doing they were very pleasant. We stayed in the Fosse Bridge Room overlooking the lake which was extremely comfortable. The rooms at the front of the building will be rather nosier as they overlook the road. The menu and wine list were good if not terribly exciting. The Inn at Fossebridge says it has wifi access but this is intermittent due to the fact that they are 'in a dip' and access is only from the lounge. Overall however, I would recommend this pub if you are looking for somewhere to relax and enjoy a superb location wit a comfortable room

Room Tip: Chose a room at the back which will be quieter and overlooks the lake

Went there for Sunday lunch today. The venue is beautifully idyllic and the food was absolutely incredible, so I would definitely go back. However my whole experience was tainted by inattentive staff and a general lack of good customer service. Nobody was actually rude, and the young guy with red hair stood out as being friendly, helpful and welcoming. If only the rest of the staff could follow suit. No-one came to our table to take the food order, we had to ask them at the bar to come over. We had to ask three different people for water before a jug was eventually brought to our table. No-one came to check on us to see if we needed drinks, we had to go up to the bar every time. When our food was brought over, my friend asked the waitress what the jelly was with his parfait. She simply said "I don't know". Fair enough if you don't know your menu inside out but an effort to find out and come back to let us know would have been appreciated. Also as we left I heard one woman being very rude to a group of old ladies who had asked for their bill to be split. She told them it was too much effort! What happened to the customer always being right? This place has all the ingredients for being a perfect restaurant, they just need to go the extra mile and exert a little effort towards customer satisfaction.

The Fossebridge Room was excellent with beautiful views.
The pub downstairs was full of character and a delightful venue with open fires and good bar food.
Staff were all very pleasant and helpful
An excellent hotel and deserving of a five star rating for service, food, atmosphere and enjoyment.

Room Tip: All rooms look very nice but the Fossebridge has two windows looking over the grounds and a four pos...
