This country pub opposite one of UK's top horse racing stable yards and gallops in the Cotswolds, is a firm favourite of Cheltenham racegoers. But, we have been twice recently for lunch, and food is really good, tasty and wholesome, the service and welcome is friendly and efficient, and the bar and restaurant cosy with it's great beers and log fires on a cold winters day.

We love this pub. The food is consistently good and staff welcoming. It has a good selection of seasonal food which is fairly priced. The vegetables come in seperate bowls to the table and are always generous quantities. The pub itself has loads of character with a strong racing influence.

A big big thank you to the staff at The Plough for feeding 15 starving and slightly tipsy friends on a Cotswold pub crawl. The food was superb and delivered quickly and efficiently with everyone getting exactly what they wanted all at the same time. Great pub, we'll be back for a more leisurely meal soon!

We were recommended to come here on our way to Bourton on The Water and so we stopped off for lunch. My fiancé is horse mad so the venue was ideal being opposite Jackdaws Castle. The food here was hearty and we both left full to bursting. A very nice couple of hours spent in a very cosy atmosphere.

Excellent. Thank you for your review. Do come and see us on a race week as the horse fraternity is here en-mass and we always make it a memorable few days with marque and live music. Hope to see you again soon.

This was our second time at the Plough Inn, and once again we were not disappointed. The pub is just wonderful - the staff are very friendly and helpful and the food is brilliant. We particularly like how seasonal and local ingredients are a key feature of all the dishes, and the portions are certainly generous! This coupled with the fantastic quality of the food means that we find the menu to be of great value. The selection of ales were excellent too, and the pub itself is full of character and very cozy. It was always busy with plenty of locals, which is a testament to the excellent quality of the pub. We have been lucky enough to have eaten at a lot of pubs with excellent food, and the Plough would have to be one of our favourites.

We stayed for 3 nights, and the room was extremely clean, and it was very comfortable, with added extras such as dressing gowns. It really is the perfect place to get away from it all, and we will certainly be staying again!

We visited The Plough on a friend's recommendation and we weren't disappointed. The en suite room (Red Rum) was comfortable although the TV was rather too small for easy viewing. The bar was busy and the local horse-brigade was well represented.
The evening menu choice was extensive and the prices were more than reasonable. Other similar establishments would charge considerably more. The portions were extremely generous and the wine list was quite adequate. The whole evening meal experience was most enjoyable.
Breakfasts were challengely huge. There was a wide choice and whatever we chose we were set up for the day from that point onwards. Additionally, the staff were friendly and efficient to a man and clearly took their lead from the landlord, Craig Brown.
On the other side of the road were the Jackdaws Castle gallops set in well-manicured parkland open to the public. Our (very well behaved) Toller much enjoyed the local walks but especially along the line of the gallops and provided we were up and out before 8am we were able to admire a string of 26 racehorses being exercised every morning but Sunday.

We shall certainly return to The Plough again and would recommend it unreservedly.

Driving through the cotswolds on the way to Stow we decided to try the plough as we had already seen the good reviews of it on trip adviser. We walked into the bar to be greeted by a pleasant young lady who proceeded to take our drinks order and we sat down for lunch, I was tempted by the fish pie and my fiance decided on the sausage baguette. After a short wait in what was a half filled bar the waitress came over and told us they had run out of sausages which was a little disappointing as she was looking forward to her sausage baguette. She did however decide to go for the soup. My fish pie was obviously homemade and very tasty with large chunks of white fish, salmon and prawns with a side dish of veg which was a little bit too buttery but still good. The soup was a delicious red pepper and tomato.

I could have spent hours looking at all of the racing memorabilia all over the walls as I am a horse racing fan and with it showing live racing in the bar and being over the road from Jonjo O' Neil's paddocks and gallops this really is a must for any horse racing buff! Add that to home cooked food and friendly service it is a nice place to stop for lunch in a beautiful area.

Thank you for your review, sorry we had run out of sausages, they must have been popular that day as we get a delivery every day of fresh meat. Hope to see you again soon.
