“Excellent Cant Fault it”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 7, 2013

Just spent a night in The Colesbourne Inn - from the moment we walked in we felt very comfortable and it just got better, room are beautiful & very tastefully decorated. Many little extra touches, all the staff where very friendly and nothing was too much trouble. The Garden at the back is so peaceful sitting on a beautiful sunny evening watching the birds rabbits with a glass of wine was heaven. Our evening meal was perfect the food was mouth watering, like wise the breakfast. Hosts where very friendly and will offer any advice needed. Definitely recommend a stay here if you get the chance, we will return if possible.

Lovely old building with extensive gardens at the back. The rooms are all to the side of the pub, with separate entrances. The pub itself serves good food with daily specials - the landlord used to be a butcher and this appeared to show in the quality of the meat - my partner declared the black pudding served at breakfast to be the best he has tasted. Lots of fish dishes on menu too. Landlord and landlady friendly and eager to talk about their pub's history and things to do in the area. If you wish to go to other pubs/restaurants, you would need to drive, as there are none within walking distance

Our room was spotlessly clean with good quality bedding on very comfortable beds and thick towels and blackout curtains. Quality toiletries provided as well as tea and freshly grund coffee with a cafetiere - a nice touch. Outside our room was a small table, where we could sit and look over the garden area. Teh extensive patio at the back of the pub is an ideal spot to watch the many birds at the feeders - we sat and watched woodpeckers, a tree creeper, and finches as well as the usual garden birds.

Others have mentioned road noise, but this did not bother us at all - the road is not busy.

Room Tip: Room 5 is on the ground floor at the back of the building facing the garden - the others face the ro...

We went here with friends and enjoyed an extremely pleasant evening. It is an attractive, well kept, thriving pub on the main road between Cirencester and Cheltenham. We all went for " solid pub fayre" for our meal choices but could have chosen fancier dishes. The food was up to par and I thought that the chips were particularly good. I'd happily take parents/ family here for a relaxed lunch or evening meal.

We stayed here for 3 nights over the bank holiday weekend and we were very pleased with our stay. We booked the deluxe room (number 9) through their online booking system and we were very impressed with the standard of the room. It was very light, attractively decorated and spotlessly clean. There was plenty of space, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom was spacious, modern and bright. I liked the small seating area by the window. The noise of traffic did not bother us at all. In fact, we were more disturbed by the sound of birds.

We found the landlord and landlady and all other members of staff to be very friendly and helpful. The customer service throughout our stay was excellent. The pub was very comfortable and cosy. We preferred to eat in the bar area but the dining room was also very nicely done out. We ate two evening meals here and we were more than happy with the quality and quantity of the food! The sticky toffee pudding was so delicious I had it twice. The breakfast each morning was also of a high standard. We felt it was good value for money.

If you are lucky enough to be blessed with some sun, the beer garden at the rear of the property is beautiful, with a huge lawn with trees and bird feeders. We spent a very peaceful hour or two watching the birds. The pub is not located in the centre of a village so it is a drive or walk to other restaurants or pubs. For us this wasn't a problem. I would definitely recommend the Inn for a stay overnight or a meal.

This is a lovely old building which is nicely maintained and is clean and shiny throughout. We booked the suite and had a great room. The Inn is on a busy main road which makes it a great central location for seeing all the sites but it does mean that day time traffic is a problem. However by 7.30 everyone has gone home and the traffic does not begin again until about 6.30 am. Our room was very comfortable. The bed was excellent and had good quality linen. The bath towels were large and fluffy. There were nice toiletries and a good hospitality tray.

The staff were friendly and obliging and we enjoyed the meals that we had. The fish and chips on Wednesday - 2 for the price of one was excellent value and the breakfast was cooked to order. The wine was reasonably priced and service was prompt.

I would not hesitate to recommend the Inn and would stay again if in the area.

Room Tip: The suite is larger and has desk and chair and also two arm chairs and small table. There is plenty...

Helpful, pleasant staff, fish and chip night good value on 2-4-1 offer, oven chips need cooking or better still replacing with proper chips. Big gaps in windows in upstairs room, good job weather nit cold. Only minor changes needed to make a great difference.

We stayed here for a single Saturday night and on the face of it the location is great, it's a lovely Cotswold style old coaching inn but there was just something "missing". Perhaps it was the management? On arrival, we were chatting to the manager but instead of a friendly welcome he told us how unusual it was for us to have been able to book a single night and they don't accept bookings for single nights at weekends. We sat in the bar during the late afternoon and several times, they would come to clear & clean adjacent vacated tables but not turn and ask if you'd like another drink. In the restaurant it seemed too much trouble for the staff to let us sit where we wanted, we had to sit where they wanted us. The hot starter was cold, the main courses just a little too small and the quality not particularly good. I get the impression the place is run on a very tight budget as indeed it's a Wadworths managed house.

The room was OK but the bathroom tiny. The main problem was road noise. Although not busy we were both woken several times by traffic speeding past in the early hours. Some double glazing would help here.

We don't need to become best friends with the owners and staff in the places we stay but if they don't make us feel welcome and valued business however or whenever we had booked out single night, then I'm sorry, they don't deserve our business. Maybe we just caught everyone in a bad mood or perhaps their North Eastern style "welcome" was lost in translation?

Room Tip: Avoid any facing the road if traffic is likely to disturb you
