It was a wonderful time away and with a great winter rate of 3 nights for the price of 2 it was awesome value for money. The weather unfornately was miserable but the warm hospitality of Greg & Ali sure made up for it. It was the little touches that made the biggest impact and thank you so much returning the clothes we mistakenly left behind.

We stayed with Ali & Greg for 3 nights as part of the winter package, it was just awesome. Great room, hosts really thoughtful going above and beyond expectation : ) Short as walk to gorgeous beach, with plenty of privacy, but local knowledge on hand should you want to know anything. Great place for hot soaks of a lazy wintery evening up the road & good local restaurants. Definately recommend and will return!! Thanks A&G!!

Hosts Ali & Greg made us very welcome, a lovely room , more like a small apartment, breakfast was delicious, homemade bread & muffins !!, They both involved us in the local produce market, felt very much at home with this place, they recommended a couple of nearby restuarants, that despite there appearances both deliverred great food at good value- A massive beach was only yards away to stretch our weary legs & get some great clean NZ air

We had a lovely couple of nights in Greg and Alis's little hotel. Waihi Beach is one of New Zealands hidden gems , a bit off the tourist path but all the better for that. The beach is HUGE , the perfect place to just stoll along the sand. The beach lodge was comfortable , clean and welcoming. Not perhaps the most 5 star hotel boutique hotel we stayed in but more than compensated for by Greg and Ali's hospitality and friendly advice.
The only negative was we didn't really find a decent restaurant in Waihi Beach but perhaps unlucky. Will & Jackie

Looking at the other reviews of Waihi Beach Lodge, it is difficult to come up with anything new to say so we will confirm what everyone else that has stayed at this wonderful place has said. Firstly, Greg and Ali - really, really nice people who make you feel more like house guests than customers. The breakfasts; the muffins; the chocolate cake; fresh fruit; chocolates etc., etc., all made it an experience you wanted to repeat. The position of the Lodge is excellent. If you want a beach holiday, there are acres of the stuff just across the road - long, clean and empty! The Coromandel area is beautiful and also full of facinating places to visit. The short drive to Waihi itself offers an amazing open-cast, working gold mine. If you stay for a few days, take the effort to drive to Hot Water Beach (we would not have known about this if it hadn't been for Ali), but be careful you don't burn your feet as I did. The water gets very hot. Another beautiful place to visit is Cathedral Cove which is about an hour and a half to the north. It is a long walk down to the cove but worth it when you get there. The whole coastline is stunning. Greg and Ali are a mine of information about the area and their recommendations for local restaurants are spot on. We stayed three nights at the end of our four week tour of New Zealand and it was a wonderful place to relax before going to Auckland and then home. We had a great holiday in New Zealand and can't thank Greg and Ali enough for helping make it so memorable. We really would like to go back and stay longer.

We stayed at the Waihi Beach Lodge between 29.01. and 04.02. Despite the weather not being on our side all the time, this was THE most enjoyable part of our honeymoon. We really loved the hospitality and generous breakfasts :-) Best muffins ever!

Best regards

Ilsi & Kari

My husband and I are shy, and generally prefer the benign neglect of a hotel to the personalized experience of a B&B. But Ali and Greg made us feel very welcome and comfortable. We slept in a lot of beds during our recent trip to New Zealand, and the bed at Waihi Beach Lodge was hands-down the most comfortable. Waihi Beach, just steps away from the Waihi Beach Lodge, is absolutely stunning. My husband commented as we were driving away that Ali's muffins were "everything that muffins should be." We'd stay there again in a heartbeat. In fact, I will consider future trips to New Zealand incomplete unless they include a stay with Greg and Ali.
