“Awesome bonus to wonderful vacation!!!!!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 11, 2013

Found Pargos Adventures on tripadvisor prior to our vacation and happy to add another 5 star review!!! We were in the area for surfing (husband), exploring, tasty local Costa Rican meals, walking the beach from Hacienda Pinilla to Playa Negra, relaxing and bonus to have a few hours paddle boarding with Javier on river through the mangrove forest. His knowledge of the area, secret spots, fauna, birds and best local restaurants tops but more so just such a down to earth positive person, made us feel so welcome and relaxed!! Ended the paddle boarding out to the ocean for some sup surfing, waves too big for me but husband and Javier caught a couple of waves, we went beyond the advertised allotted tour time for sure without adding additional cost (which 99.9% of guided tours would, or just cut you off at allotted time). Afterwards we headed to Restaurante Latinos per his recommendation and spot on, best ceviche hands down that we had the entire time (we were there 6/30-7/7/13), delicious food and generous portions for great price, went back for lunch again a few days later (went back to river mouth to fish and surf). We will be back next year and sup Pirates Bay and if have enough time or surf is down will do some mountain biking!! The yoga sup is calling also ;-) Thank you so much Javier! The Calvin's

“Fantastic, enjoyable and informative SUP tour with Javier!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed July 7, 2013

We visited Costa Rica this week and booked a paddle board tour per the recommendation of a small hotel close to where we were staying. Javier picked us up from the hotel with a huge friendly smile on his face and took us to a river about 15 minutes away. Before jumping on our boards, he gave us a thorough lesson on how to operate the board and stay safe. Throughout the tour, he taught us many things about Costa Rica and the ecosystem. Javier is so knowledgable, friendly, professional and passionate about what he does. We wish we had a few more days in Playa Negra because we would have loved to go hiking, surf and mountain biking with Javier. I highly recommend anyone looking for activities in Playa Negra visit Javier and Pargos Adventures. You will not be disappointed!!!

“Family Friendly - Pargos Adventures”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 23, 2013

Pargos Adventures is a wonderful place to visit. Javier and his family are friendly, considerate, generous, and understanding. There is a good selection of surfboards, paddleboards, and other outdoor equipment is available at reasonable rates. Javier is knowledgeable about the local area and makes excellent suggestions for surfing and paddleboarding locations. He speaks fluent English and Spanish, which makes communication easier and educational. Javier is honest, considerate, and If you get the opportunity to meet Javier's son, little Matte (mat-ay), it will bring a smile to your face as he is extremely entertaining.

Our family vacation to Costa Rica was a wonderful experience. Pargos Adventures added to the pleasant experience. We definitely look forward to visiting Pargo Adventures again one day and seeing our friends at Pargos Adventures in Playa Negra, Costa Rica.

“Awesome paddleboarding and surfing experience!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 28, 2013

I was talking to a girl on the beach and she suggested that I go paddleboarding with this local guy named Javier. She pointed to the ocean and said thats him. He had his young son surfing on the front of his board while he was on the back. We made a reservation to go paddleboarding the next day. Javier picked us up and drove us to a serene river. While paddleboarding, he told us all about the nature and ecosystem of the Costa Rican river. He had a great story and couldn't have been any nicer. I enjoyed talking to him and learning from a local. The next day, I booked a surfing lesson with him at Playa Negra. I had surfed before but it had been a very long time. He swam next to me and taught the trick of the trade. Our experience in Playa Negra was complete with the time we got to spend with Javier. I hope to go back and see him again! I highly suggest taking a trip with him!

“Javier is a gem.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed May 27, 2013

Javier is a truly generous and spirited host. We booked a standup paddle board tour with him but were pretty indecisive about when we wanted to go. In the lead up to our decision, he was very accessible, informative, flexible, and good spirited. The tour was a great experience - a peaceful trip through a piece of the land we would not have otherwise seen, and Javier was super knowledgeable about the plants and wildlife that abound in the estuary near Junquillal. We'd definitely recommend that you do some sort of experience with him while in the area. He's a fantastic host and great energy to be around.
