This jungle pizzeria has some of the best brick oven pizza I've ever eaten!! No joke. And I know my pizza.. It's in a great spot in Playa Negra in a rustic surf inspired hotel/hostel. As well the staff is super knowledgeable about Ccosta Rica Geronimo rocks as well!!!

We made some friends with folks in a hotel shuttle one night. We saw them on the beach the next day (at Lola's, another great spot) and they recommended Kon Tiki (pizza'n'love).
We drove down that night to the playa negra area and ate at Kon Tiki.
Amazing is the easiest single word to describe everything. The food, the service, the atmospehere, all of it.

We were a group of seven, it wasn't busy (roughly 7pm), but there were a few other customers. The hostess/owner took care of us and was incredibly helpful and gracious.
We ordered 3 pizzas to share and some drinks to start. The owner also made us a large house salad to share.
We finished with some ice cream (strawberries and chocolate sauce on top).

The pizzas were wonderful. Two of them had thin crusts, one was a little thicker but no more than twice as thick. Probably not even 1cm. All of them tasted delicious. There is also a chili dripping sauce that was wonderful.
The house salad was fresh and delicious. It came with a side of oil/vinegar style dressing that was not too powerful or bland.

The beers were bottled, so nothing different to say there. The lemonade was great and had a bit of ginger in it.

Last, and certainly not least, the sangria. None of us have had better. The mix includes some spices and the fruits are cooked ahead of time to create a sauce that adds to the wine in order to make it more like a juice than most sangria we've ever had (which tend to be thin, like a watered down red wine). We ordered another pitcher of sangria because the first one went too quickly.

We can't recommend this place enough. Go there and support them.

Our total was roughly 55000 colones (current exchange rate makes that about 110 USD) for 3 pizzas, salad, dessert, and at least two drinks for everyone. I'm not sure if any of that was more money because we had a large salad made, etc. But at roughly $15 USD per person, for what we got, I'd eat there at any point.

We did not stay there, but based on all the rest, I would easily stay here on my next trip. Also, it's only a few minutes to walk to the beach (the one server said 5-10 minutes).

This was the perfect stop over between San Fran and Los Angeles. We booked this on-line from NZ. Requested adjoining rooms which they provided us, and also on the ground floor for easy access for the children to get to the garden and pool.
The rooms were a good size, the view fantastic, clean and well equipped. We hardly heard anyone above or beside us. The beds were very comfortable. The gym was really good and also an indoor lap pool. Breakfast is busy, but a number of people would get their breakfasts and take it back to their rooms to enjoy their views.
Location wise - easy walk to pier and town with a number of cafes, and casual dinning options.
I recommend this complex to all travelers, young, old, families, romance etc.

Room Tip: Ground floor is great for families and you still get a view of the ocean and pool. upper floors hav...

I stayed for a month in Kon Tiki in July 2013 for surfing and every bit has been perfect. The owners Giova and Martin are super nice, very helpful and dedicated. Whether it's been for surfing, camping or finding some medical help, their advices were always present and accurate :) The food there is good, especially try the pizzas cooked in a traditional wood-fired. And don't forget to challenge Martin at Backgammon :)

As we pulled up to the restaurant they we packing up for the night but quickly opened the dining room to accommodate our family of 5. The owner, Martin and his wife, were so friendly and made a recommendation for their fresh squeezed lemonade. Our order for 2 pitchers of lemonade and 5 pizzas was quickly prepared. The pizza dough was light and doughy but thin and perfect. Toppings were all fresh and plentiful. The adobe style pizza oven is part of the dining room which is decorated in typical Tico decór; very comfortable. They had the soundtrack from Rock of Ages playing which our teenagers liked. Martin talked to us about surfing and made some local surfing spot suggestions. They offer take out service, too, via a little scooter out front.

My boyfriend and I stayed here for three nights and ended up eating here every single night. The pizza was amazing, Giovanna also prepared us a pasta dish that was delicious. We had been planning on only staying two nights, but extended it to three because the owners (Giovanna and Martin) and the staff were so hospitable and had all the details about where to surf and with what tide, etc. The rooms were clean, very simple, and the bed was really very comfortable. There's no AC, but with fans on at night I was wrapped up in the sheet and didn't get hot at all. Lots of hammocks made for a great midday break. Great location between Playa Negra and Avellanes, but we had a car and didn't walk to the breaks. I would definitely choose to stay here again.

Run by an a wonderful couple, Giovanna & Martin - not only are they really warm, kind & helpful people, they also make delicious food & drinks - we highly recommend the salads, choose your own topping pizzas, watermelon smoothies, lemonade & sangria. The rooms are simple & comfortable but only has shared bathrooms & 15 minute walk to the beach.
