“Nice Vacation Place”
Reviewed June 20, 2012

My wife and I spent two weekday nights in the New Wing in June. HaGoshrim is a Resort Hotel, not a boutique hotel. In addition to the central building (lobby, restaurant, reception), many of the accommodations are located throughout a sprawling campus.

Special attention is given to New Wing residents upon check-in, and the Wing is adjacent/attached to the Central building so that you can get to the restaurant without going outdoors. Check-in was smooth, although the computer wasn't working. Our room was spacious, and included a balcony with chairs and a table, room-darkening curtains, coffee/tea corner, robes and slippers. "YES" TV service is provided. The large bed was comfortable and the pillows were fluffy. The towels were large and soft, and you can shower in a bathtub or a separate stall shower. Lots of toiletries, too. There are small tables on either side of the bed, and the room lighting is adequate for reading. A minibar and safe are in the room.

A lounge is available for New Wing guests, with free computer access, good coffee machine and selection of teas, cookies, fresh and dried fruits. The lounge is open from 9-22 during the week.

Although HaGoshrim accommodates many groups, the only crowds that we encountered were in the restaurants. Meals are buffet-style, with more choices for everything than a thermometer has degrees. "Only" five types of hot soup at dinner! Because of the groups, the restaurant can get rather crowded and noisy if you get there at/about opening time - 7am for breakfast and 7pm for dinner. Go an hour later, if you can. Actually, as New Wing guests, we were ushered into a separate dining room, but you can sit wherever you like.

Although there's an excellent fish restaurant nearby, we stayed on a half-board basis. As indicated above, there's something for everyone's palate for dinner and breakfast. Just bring your appetite. Lots of main dishes, side dishes, salads, desserts, etc.

There's a huge outdoor swimming pool located about five minutes (walking) from the Central Building. But it opens at 2 pm during the week (when we were there). A three-minute walk brings you to the spa, with a large indoor swimming pool (open from the morning), an exercise room with lots of equipment (open from 7am), basketball court, showers, sauna, etc. You can even get a pay-for massage.

There are lots of outdoor activities in easy driving distance of the hotel, e.g., hiking, kayaking, and hotel guests can get discounts at some of the places.

Room Tip: Stay in the New Wing

We stayed at Goshrim 3 days/ 2 nights, we had a blast!

The Kibbutz Hotel itself is great, the grounds are simply beautiful, lush, manicured, fabulous. The forest around the kibbutz has a great hike for kids, across streams, so much fun! The food is great, huge amounts of food, too much to choose from. The restaurant staff was very, very accommodating, I think they worked harder than anyone else. The pool was fun, the staff at the snack bar was friendly.

The rooms and the hotel are recently remodeled, I was honestly impressed and it surpassed my expectations. I was expecting something more basic and rustic, this was modern and I was pleased!

The hotel is 5 minutes from Tel Dan National Park, 2 minutes from the Senir Stream nature Reserve- we had so much fun!

Yes. the management isn't friendly, it's true, and the bar staff was just terrible- but I honestly think it's just because they have no training or experience to know otherwise. I don't know one hotel in Israel with friendly management so I don't bother (and I sleep in hotels a lot). I called room service a couple times and they never answered. The "family tour" on Shabbat was just a lot of talking, so we went exploring on our own (along with 1/2 the families on the tour who took out lead and left) and another kibbutz member pointed us in the right direction to a nature trail (he was a really nice guy), and we had tons of fun! My wife wants to book another weekend there ASAP and I can't wait to go back:)

It's a beautiful place, just go and enjoy it with a positive attitude!!!

Shalom Stark-

Room Tip: We had a remodeled room in the "Koren House" which was very nice, we had connecting corner...

Haha..no lox anywhere else as well ..lnot an Israeli thing. This was our favourite "hotel" on our trip. We had one of the stand alone cottages that was brand new and it was amazing. This place takes food offerings to the max. I really enjoyed the service and food at this kibbutz and will give it a thumbs up to anyone considering staying in the area. Some of my fam had older rooms..,very basic and in need of an update. Do your research before you book.

Room Tip: Do your research. Some rooms are ultra modern some look like university dorms.

That is a typical kibbutz with his farming and animals. They did a good hotel, basic but it has everything needed. They offer good food at a fixed price. The WiFi is free in everywhere. We appreciate very much.

HaGoshrim Hotel - on the site of Emir Fa'ur 's ruined winter palace. The hotel lies in the center of the valley, facing the Golan Heights and the snows of Mount Hermon.
Rooms in the different style (ours was 2-floor suite) have a balcony overlooking wonderful views of natural countryside and Wireless Internet connection at no extra charge.
Health and Sports Center, including: 2 swimming-pools (outdoor summer-season pool, and an open year-round heated indoor pool), sauna, squash court, gym, basketball court, exercise room and football field. Nice restaurant, interesting area for travelling, include Banias National Park and Mini Zoo in the Kibbutz with wonderful black big fat pigs!

A great location for nature lovers. Nice rooms spread in a few buildings, most of them recently renovated. Very polite and friendly staff. A walk needed to reach the pool and the jacuzzi. Consider to spend a bit more and to upgrade for the suits it is well worth it.
