We stayed here for two nights in September. Everything about this property is superb. The owners were so hospitable and the facilities 5 Star. From the bedding through to the luxury soaps and having the whole deck/pool area to ourselves was divine. Only wish our stay could have been longer. Nearby beaches offer wonderful picnic spots and swimming should you be tempted to leave the property.

Judy and Shaun have an incredible place here. We traveled here on our silver wedding anniversary and they made us feel so very welcome. The room could not have been more perfect -the bed extremely comfortable- one of the most fantastic views of anyplace we have ever been. The web pictures do not do the reality justice. If you want privacy, a romantic getaway, luxury, quiet (except for the Tui birds which was pretty cool) and people that care that you are genuinely happy --- book this place -

We travelled up from Auckland for a long weekend. Blown away from the start by the amazing location and views from the deck, even on the rainy day when we arrived!
Private and felt so exclusive. The room is spotless, every single thing you could want is provided. Great cooking facilities in the room, lovely comfortable bed.
Lots of information provided to help you have the best stay from activities to do to choice of places to eat. Full sky and wireless available. Free laundry facilities and internet access if you want. We just had the best time and fully intend to return and enjoy this fantastic spot again in the future. This is THE place to stay!

This is my second visit here and it has to be the very best B+B I have every stayed in. The hosts keep the property in perfect condition, the cleanliness is second to none, bed comfortable, views stunning, and the hosts are friendly and helpful. The little extras are what really sets this B+B apart, besides just the breakfast there was also chocolates, fruit and free Pringles! This property is tranquil and modern with attention to detail. Worthy of a 5 star rating, this property oozes quality. For me, the best thing about the Waimanu Lodge is how I feel when I'm here: Relaxed, comfortable and rejuvenated.

SUMMARY - We stayed in lots of nice self-contained apartments in New Zealand and this was by far the best (it has become our new "10/10 gold standard" with which we compare all others): plush, luxurious, great views and attention to detail.

LOCATION - The location is fantastic (overlooking Whangaroa Harbour) and only one party of people can use the B&B at any one time, so you always have it to yourself.

FACILITIES - Photos on their website are faithful to what you get. There is an outdoor swimming pool, hot tub, free WiFi (and access to free internet computer if you didnt' have your own laptop), full SkyTV, DVD collection, good kitchen facilities and free laundry with tumble dryer. The standard of the room was very luxurious. The bathroom had no bathtub but an enormous shower. Continental breakfast was delicious (left in your room the night before).

EXTRAS - Little details made this place extra special - marsh mallows to put on your hot chocolate, free nibbles (e.g. Pringles) and drinks (e.g. Baileys) in the room, cooled wine in the fridge for purchase. The owners are very welcoming, approachable and flexible.

Highly recommend for romantic weekend break.

This was our treat to ourselves at the end of a wonderful 6-week stay on North Island. Having booked 9 months ago via the internet we were thrilled to discover when we arrived that the website had, if anything, understated what was on offer.
What a fantastic experience with perfect hosts offering facilities to die for at realistic rates. We knew beforehand that Waimanu Lodge was 'away from it all' and were not disappointed.
A trip around the Harbour with Alistair aboard his boat "Sea Fever" is a must if you want a local's perspective on the history of the area - and maybe the opportunity to see a whole pod of dolphins alongside the boat!
Thank you Judy & Shaun for the part you played in making our holiday so memorable.

What a wonderful stay in a fantastic quiet setting high above beautiful Whangaroa Harbour. Heated pool, large sunny deck, lovely peaceful modern room with great attention to the smallest detail, fantastic views, great breakfasts and very helpful hosts. In every way this is 5 star accommodation at a 3 star tariff and was our highlight of a 5 week trip containing many high points. Stay a minimum of 3 nights and take an all day sailing trip on the Snow Cloud Yacht...another remarkably cheap but wonderful experience. We have travelled widely and it does not come any better than this.
