We were supposed to have two just guts here, however only one as my husband had come down with a cold and we spent an extra night elsewhere to try to shake it off.
Favara is not much to write home about except it’s a good spot to see the Valley of the Temples in Agrigento.
Our travel agent booked us into the Alba Palace (more about that in a seperate review) and the associated restaurant is this. Surprisingly, it is the best restaurant in Favara.
Well, after our dinner tonight, it is one of the best restaurants ever.
Our waiter Giovanni was exemplary with the wine recommendation, and service. The amuse Boucher was delightful arancini with chickpea flour discs.
For main course we selected red mullet with pesto and potato flakes (like mini French fried), and the grilled octopus on mashed chickpeas and sweet onion. Both dishes were sublime. To top it off we had a salad and French fries. Just perfect.
Probably the best dinner we’d had to n the two weeks we’ve been in Europe.
Sad to think we were the only diners on a Friday night.
It is exceptional and deserves to do well. Outstanding value for money.

It is a lovely place to dine. Linens, crystal, great wait staff. BUT, the food, oh, the food. We have eaten at numerous Michelin starred restaurants over the years. Le Traveggole deserves 2 stars, and I say that most seriously.
When is the last time you had each dish, perfectly balanced, perfectly cooked, with a (OK, this will sound histrionic) symphony of delicate tastes playing over your tongue (warned you)? We did, here. We were stunned, not expecting that each dish would be on par with the previous ones.
We pretty much followed our waiter's suggestions, but did order some items we personally wanted to try.
We had the puff pastry filled with goat cheese. That sounds so dull. It was crisp and light, with this warm cheese, with a complex herb/spice inclusion that immediately made you slow down to savour every bite. My main man had the macaroni with ricotta and pancetta. Sounds just OK, doesn't it? It was absolutely amazing. The intricacies of the spices lifted it to another plane. Just SOOO good. A lasagna with a white ragu. Sublime. The beefsteak, with the chef's sauce that was so complicated with a marriage of herbs and spices, all you could do was envy and be so glad to be there for this meal.
Desserts were a fresh cherry "misticanza" that melted in your mouth. And, oh, the semifreddo pistacchio: the BEST semifreddo we have ever tasted. It is worth a journey, alone, to eat this.
Hum, did we like it? Moaningly good, people, just perfect.

Got to Favara to visit the Farm Cultural Park with my wife. We stayed at the Alba Palace Hotel but did not want to go to far to have dinner. So we choose to go to the Traveggole, the restaurant of the hotel and have dinner on the terrace.
I used to eat Caponata so I decided to take the octopus with chickpea cream. OMG ! it was just D-E-L-I-C-I-O-U-S! Then I ate as the main course the typical red sicilian shrimp wrapped into a crunchy pasta kataifi. As one French famous chef always says : Gourmand - Croquant. I ended with a semi freddo made of pistacchio, ricotta and chunkly bit. About the wine, the "sommelier" made us taste different kind of fine Sicilian wines. Well, we would not have been there on purpose but we were very fortunate since the "cuisine" worth the detour. Bon Appétit.

This is a large and fancy restaurant for a small Sicilian town and prices are higher than other restaurants in town so expectations are higher, too. The waiters are attentive and helpful. Appetizers were excellent though a green salad was ordinary. Steak was medium-well done — we were not asked — and was a tasty piece of meat. Mushrooms served with the steak were excellent. Fries were semi-raw and I think made from frozen potatoes. Overall the quality of the meal did not justify the prices.
