“A walk back in time!”
Reviewed April 2, 2014

It is about an hours drive from the Bay of Islands to reach the 'Boulders', the last stretch is over dirt road winding through misty valleys.
The 'Boulders' are on a private property and the park has been planned out with walks through the forest and around and over the rocks using steps and bridges. Not suitable for someone who is not used to walking through the bush.
The whole area is amazing and seemed like something out of a Prehistoric Park. Wonderful views of the many rocks and the special fluted boulders. A stream weaves through the park and we climbed through caves and over bridges.

“A treasure”
Reviewed March 22, 2014

It is rare to be presented with the majesty and force of our geological past, and have it made available to the tourist is such a respectful way, however this what I experienced today. So many highlights that mad me gasp in wonder. I also loved the explanation and the warm welcome, thank you much

“Rock and Rolling Stones”
Reviewed March 19, 2014

absolutley beautiful walk, with amazing stone features. the lady who owns it, is very helpfull and friendly, she has a few good recommandations for the surrounding activities. I loved that they were small path not doc- highways, the animal features painted on some rocks were fun and ducking through hanging rocks entertaining. and then you can go home and tell everyone, you've seen a stone formation that no one knew existed a few years back. love, how much work they put in this private project and give nature a chance.

“A Unique and Memorable experience”
Reviewed January 30, 2014

My wife and i own a business here in Kaikohe and recommend all travellers to visit Wairere boulders as we believe they are unique, majestic and allow one to be in unison with nature and its natural beauty. The proprietors (Felix and Rita) are beautiful helpful people who have done outstanding work to make the area safe but still able to see these majestic naturally sculpted boulders.Their charge are very reasonable and affordable and allow all people of all ages to see at their own pace such exquisite beauty. When we got married this is the first place we thought of to have our wedding and this day will always live in our memory as the perfect setting for our life long partnership.Keep up the great work Felix and Rita. You truly have a little utopia of peace in the Hokianga.

“Best place ever!!!”
Reviewed January 28, 2014

If you would like to be once away from everything, not only from your everydaylife, but also from the whole traffic trubles and all the other things than this is exactly the right place!! You will feel as if this is the real end of the world and you will face remarkable fluted boulders!! The walkways are easy accessible, thanks to the owners, who built all this walkways!!!! Amazing job!!! As you won't face many other people on those walkways, you feel amazingly free and not observed from other people!!! Don't forget to bring your camera and maybe something to eat as there are thousand of lovely places for having a picknic....
