“Great Family Weekend”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed February 16, 2013

We just got back from the big4 northstar and my daughter and i loved it. we have a 2 bedroom villa right opposite the kids club and it was huge, with 2 bedrooms with a king bed for me and 2 sets of bunks in the second bedroom, a decent size loungroom with tv and dvd and a full kitchen. also an outdoor deck with a 6 seater table and built in bbq.

my daughter was really keen to get into the kids club where she did drawing, played on the equipment and danced. there is also a good pool area with waterslides and awater park like a mini wet n wild to keep them entertained.

we will be going back for sure.

My family stayed at Big 4 North star from 20/01/2013 for a week. We camped for the week with our camper trailer. We had a double size powered campsite so we could fit 2 camper trailers comfortably on the large site! Best campsite ever with astro turf on the ground... The turf was amazing even in the pouring rain! We all stayed dry, no muddy or sandy tents and any water drained away immediately! A clean tent after a rainy week is usually unheard of!!!! Kids club was great, seascape was also great , massages for the men and facials for all of the girls :) The restaurant was good and had very fast service. The kids loved the water park too! Staff always made sure that the grounds were spotless. Foxtel cable for our tv in the tent was another nice touch! Overall a fabulous relaxing week, highly recommend for family's with children. The only downside is that I now require astro turf on all of our camping trips :)

My family had a wonderful time staying at big 4 North Star. The helpful friendly staff from front office to house keeping and everyone in between and all the amazing facilities made our stay even more relaxing We didn't have a need to leave the children were all catered for in fact as a family we hardly left the pool and if we wanted a night off from cooking the friendly staff and lizards at the restaurant were right there

We will defiantly be back!!!!!

We stayed at this caravan park for 10 nights from 21/1 till the 31/1 and despite the bad weather we copped for two straight days of strong winds and heavy rains we still had an enjoyable stay.
A big thank you to the staff and management for looking out for our family throughout the bad storm and accommodating us saftely!
The park has great facilities for the kids!
My boys loved the kids club (7 & 9 years old) and I loved the free time :) the pool and water park is fantastic!
Big thumbs up for the ripples cafe!!!!
And also the relaxing massages at seascape! But most of all the staff and management where mostly kind and very helpful.
Thanks again
Mark and Charmaine Curmi

We stayed at Big 4 North Star for the first time for a week including Christmas. I was hoping to book a 2 bed cabin but as we left our booking a little late all that was left was apartments above reception. I would recommend booking a cabin if you can. For the high prices we paid the accommodation was just adequate. Whilst the apartment was large, it was basic....shower with no bath tub, basic kitchen, no dishwasher so nothing flash compared to other Big 4 cabins I've stayed in. Rooms were very hot (aircon only in the living room) and noisy (large air con condenser right below our window), a tractor that was used for the grounds parked directly below our verandah and very smelly bins right below too meant we did not use the verandah and had the air con going 24/7 so as not to open windows/doors.

Our initial impression was disappointing too, the first thing you see as you pull up is the service station in front of the resort (which was well stocked however!) and there are no real "views" or nice scenery. The grounds and not pretty like some other holiday parks just lots of tents and cabins. We were expecting the resort to be on or closer to the beach as we had a large kayak and I was told when I called that the resort was very close to the beach that we would be able to carry our kayak there. It was around 300 metres to the water and involved crossing a busy road which meant we only used the kayak once as taking on an off the car was hard work. But the estuary that we walked and cycled to regularly was a lovely spot for the kids as was the beach.

Facilities for the children however were good. Kids loved the pool although it was small and too busy with large adults using the slippery dip and smacking into the pool so we never stayed too long. The water park was great and kids club was good too although we only used it a couple of time. The onsite day spa is a nice touch, my husband had a massage. As we had young kids we didn't take advantage of the adult lap pool. Ripples cafe was nice, food a little pricey but the cuisine is slightly upmarket so the kids weren't too keen on their meals but we enjoyed ours. We dined there once and had morning tea once.

Overall its a great central location as long as you have a car, there's not much to do or places to eat within walking distance apart from Ripples cafe. We made day trips to Seaworld (one hour), Byron Bay (40mins) and Kingscliff (20mins) and we also had bikes so enjoyed going for rides every day. On a final positive note the staff were all nice and friendly!

Room Tip: Try to avoid staying in apartments above reception

Hi Vanessa, thank you for choosing to holiday with us at the BIG4 North Star Holiday Resort and for your recent comments regarding your stay in our Apartments. As you are aware the Resort boosts a large range of accommodation options. Whilst every endeavour had been made to meet your request for a 2 bedroom cabin, we were unfortunately unable to assist with this request as your booking was placed so close you the Christmas holiday season so availability was limited. We are very sorry to hear you’ve left this time with some aspects which didn’t meet your expectations.

The Resort’s has tropical landscaped gardens which surround our sites and cabin accommodation with the surf beach and tidal estuary a short stroll from the Resort entrance.

We are glad your children enjoyed our kid’s friendly facilities and our pool area. Sammy’s Adventure Lagoon is a family friendly facility and at times the big kids (mum and dad) like to join in on the family fun using the slides and water park. With this in mind our guest’s safety is our number one priority.

In regards to the resorts brand new café Ripples, we have designed the menu with families in mind with meals ranging from $9.90 to $16.90 and some of the kids favourites on our kids menu $8.00.

The resort is very proud of our publicised money back guarantee “A full refund of all fees paid if you are not completely satisfied with your accommodation or service within one hour of arrival”

Vanessa please accept our most sincere apologies for these issues and the impact they had on your families’ holiday. Guest satisfaction is something very important to the team at the BIG4 North Star Holiday Resort and we wish to thank you for providing this feedback. We trust we will have the opportunity to welcome you and your family back one day soon.

We stayed for 3 nights over Christmas on an ensuite site in our van.
I had been looking forward to staying here for ages and I have to say that I was a little dissapointed!!
The pool and water park was great! Kids club was enjoyable. Good camp kitchen and free foxtel was great!
Ripples restaurant on site was fantastic!!
We found the sites very small and felt like we were staying in our backyard ( we missed our views).
The beach was great and we had a lovely day there, but you have to cross a very busy road which was just too dangerous for the kids, so we ended up driving.
Staff seemed lovely except for one lady who refused to give my husband another arm band to enter the pool and wanted to charge him $10 to replace it..even though he had our site key and our kids had theirs on - that really annoyed him. Rules are good but she could have dealt nicer with him.
All in all, it DOES have great facilities, especially for kids but we wont be staying here again. The location isnt ideal and we would rather a nice view from our site!

Room Tip: A site closer to the front of the park would be better located for pool and water park

The Resort prides itself on our great customer service so we sincerely apologise in relation to the matter of the wristband. We hope you understand these measures are important for the safety of all our guests. The policy regarding the replacement of your wristband is outlined in your welcome booklet provided on arrival.
We sincerely hope that we will get the chance to welcome you back one day soon.

This is now our second Christmas/New Year stay at this Park and it was another cracker!

This is without question the best park for families in Australia. I have visited many and this one takes the cake for my money.

We stay from 27/12 to 4/1 and have booked again for next year. Price is very reasonable given it also includes Kids Club, New Years Festivities and a water park to rival the Gold Coast! We have what we regard as the best site for our needs and get it each year. Oh and I forgot to mention the price includes Foxtel to your site with Movies, Fox Sport and Kids programs.

Our kids have made great friends and got experiences that they will remember when they have kids. I hope they bring them here and continue this great family tradition.
