Seton Sands Holiday Park - Haven
Reviewed September 25, 2011

I booked this through The Sun holidays and asked for an upgrade that cost an extra £16 for 4 nights. I could not fault the caravan that had heaters in every room, and was spotlessly clean. This is the cleanest site I have been to through Haven holidays. I admit that the swimming pool and amusements are not large in comparison to some other Haven sites, but they are adequate and very clean. The reception staff were very friendly and helpful. The site is opposite a beach that is okay for a leisurely stroll, although when we went it was quite windy so you will need your woollies if going out of season! There are a couple of supermarkets if you head out of the site and turn left, Aldi is the first one, so if you don’t fancy buying groceries from the slightly more expensive SPA shop on the site, this is a good alternative.

If travelling to Edinburgh and you are in the car, the best bet is to drive to Prestonpans train station (free parking) and get the train £4.40 off-peak return, there is an overflow carpark at the other side of the track if the main car park is full. Trains go every hour. If sightseeing we found the Royal Edinburgh Ticket good value, and you can hop on and off the tourist buses for 2 days inclusive: http://www.visitscotland.com/shop/tickets-passes/edinburgh-bus-tours/

We also found the National Museum of Flight at East Fortune very good with you being allowed onboard an actual Concorde and take photos. http://www.nms.ac.uk/our_museums/museum_of_flight.aspx

I will definitely be visiting this caravan site again, it is in a good location and handy for visits to Edinburgh. I could not fault the site or the caravan. Well done Haven. This is the first time I have had praise for a caravan site!!

A great family friendly site, which you can clearly see is being renovated and improved over the last year and as i type this (A New Golf Course i believe).

We went here on a sun holiday and we would be more than happy to pay full price, in fact we booked a week here in june 2012 & 10 days in september 2012 the minute we got back home to northamptonshire. The facilities and entertainment staff were brilliant we really couldn't have asked for more.

Also a plus there is a bus stop directly outside the park which takes you too the heart of Edingburgh half hourly. Zoo, Shops, Museums etc for those wet and windy days ;)

Thanks Seton Sands

see you soon

x

Stated at Seton Sands at the beginning of September, during the first week of low season. Had read a number of very negative reviews so went there with an open mind. Booked Superior caravan and couldn't fault it - clean and in working order.

At one point, Gas ran out. Maintenance responded within minutes of contacting guest services.

Staff friendly and helpful, Showbar & entertainment very enjoyable.

We enjoyed it so much we rebooked for next year.

We booked this park as a late offer, at a very good price, but just before we travelled we went on this site and read the awful reviews and to be honest we nearly cancelled. But we did read a couple of really positive reviews so we went.
We are so glad we did as the park, staff and the caravan we stayed in here all fab. The site is immaculate, when you drive on its lovely, I was so relieved. The amienities where all good and the staff couldnt do enough for you, they were very polite and well informed as we got great help and advice off reception for trains and good places to visit.
The caravan was very clean and well equipped, no damp mould . or dirty dishes in sight. The only negatives where the pillows and duvets (which were clean) where a bit flat and needed replacing. And the group of caravans we were in were a bit close to the next one, as we found when a family checked in late , had no thought for our family who were all asleep and commenced to unpack their car at 12 30 banging, slamming their car doors.

Room Tip: I would recommend that when you check in you ask how close the caravan next to you is.

My partner and I have just returned from a week long stay at seton sands with our 5 year old son, we all thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The week was packed with fun activities day and night. The funstars never stopped they work so hard and are very enthusiastic and lovely with the kids, my son got a photograph taken with them on our last night and is a reminder of how good our break was. Our caravan was immaculate even tho it was 'standard' the service from all staff members couldn't be faulted, I think the bad reviews on here are a false impression of Seton sands and obviously some people are hard to please! we will definately be going back!

We booked a week in prestige caravan....where a bit wary after reading other reviews.Travelled by train to edinburgh, got a hackney from station to the carvan park , cost us 30 pounds, however there are buses that take you right to the park for much cheaper! had we known this we would have got the bus!
Caravan was great, spacious and clean.
Theres a nice playpark for kids to run around and tire themselves out, the family go karts are great fun, carry either 2 or 4.
The beach across the road wasnt great tbh, no sand all stones, but we got bus to prestonpans and then train to north berwick , and the beach was fab :) lovely wee town.and only 15 mins on train.
The spar shop can be quite dear- but theres a co-op just along the road so easy enough to go and buy from there. the chippy on site was good- proper chippy chips not those frozen ones you get in some.
Took bus into Edinburgh, again get from just outside the park- like a wee terminus- takes about 40 mins.
Had a great wee week away, kids loved it, the park is quite small but plenty of places just a bus ride away.

We booked a week in a "Prestige Caravan" here from 13th - 20th August. We arrived on site and collected the key. We have travelled quite a bit and have stayed in a variety of caravan sites and holiday cottages - well this is without doubt the dirtiest, grubbiest and tired caravan that we have ever stayed in and it was supposed to be almost top of the range! I'd hate to see the base models. The kitchen lino was sticky and filthy. The brown carpet in the living area - Don't ask! From other peoples hairs in the bathroom, other peoples litter that hadn't been removed to the babies bib down the back of the seat - It just wasn't clean!. We complained and were told that it was due to the 2 hour turnaround for the cleaning staff - Sorry but that's no excuse! The entertainment area as usual you have to enter through the slot machines and games area. It was usually bunged and very noisey. The "show bar" was dark and dingy with sticky carpet and the accompaning odour from constant drinks being spilt over it. In the whole week I was here I never seen anyone cleaning this area. On the POSITIVE SIDE the site is kept very well - grass is trimmed reguarly and kept clean and tidy. Seton Sands is a great location to check out the area. There is a beach directly across the road and Port Seton is approx 1/2 a mile to the left out of the site. Public transport is great to - the No 26 bus runs reguarly from the front of the site to Princes Street in centre of Edinburgh (£10.40 for 2 adults and 2 kids all day tickets) if your making anything more that 2 journeys - DON'T even consider taking the car into Edinburgh - Parking is a fortune and it's heavily congested - Park it and take the bus! If you into your Tesco Vouchers - We brought them for Scottish Sea Bird Centre, Cineworld Cinema, Dundee Street, Edinburgh (Bus route No1 - Check the bus stops on Princes Street on the same side as the gardens - Bus stops right outside it and the same route brings you back to Princes street again), Edinburgh Butterfly and Insect World, at Dobbies near Gilmerton (very good - staff great and very knowledgeable) and Deep Sea World in North Queensferry. 4 Good days out for Free for buying your groceries! Also explore the coast down towards Berwick - Lovely area - try Umbertos if you like Italian. All in all - a great holiday just the dirty caravan and the grubby entertainment area lets it down.

Room Tip: Book the top of the range!
