Stayed on a glasgows great deal offer.the hotel is lovely and food was nice but never slept a wink all nite as the room was really noisy due to traffic going up and down all day and nite.when I complained was told that they could do nothing about it and thats the reason that it was on the deals.i should have been told prior to booking about the noise as most people go for a rest not to be up all nite.if U go make sure U dont get room 6 or room on front street unless U want to be awake all nite by traffic as it is only single glazed and unbearable to sleep in.

I'd read some of the mixed reports of others' experiences at this hotel so I thought I'd add my own review. I live only a few miles from this hotel but was attracted by the excellent deal on offer - £49 for dinner, bed and breakfast, plus afternoon coffee and scones, for 2 including abottle of house wine. Having done many deals, this was an excellent offer and it turned out to be an excellent night out.

Although the location is not in itself attractive, don't let this put you off. Our room was clean and tidy although I was surprised to be asked for a £10 deposit for the TV remote. Also surprised that drinks or food bought at the bar could not be added to the bill and needed to be paid in cash. This must be due to bad experiences by the hotel. The coffee and scones on arrival were nice and set us up nicely for dinner. Our starters of mussels and pigs cheeks were excellent and are thoroughly recommended. Main courses of steak and venison were also enjoyable, washed down with the bottle of house red. All in all, the service at dinner and the following morning at breakfast was extremely good.

It's fair to say that our bedroom overlooked the main street and was a bit noisy. The toilet was also on a small side but you must take account of the price paid for this deal and it was truly outstanding value for money.

I'll be more than happy to return, if even for the pigs cheeks.

Room Tip: If you are easily disturbed by noise when trying to get to sleep, ask for a room at the back of the...

Just bAck from our second overnight was there last year and definitely as good. Booked the today's great deal for £49 and worth every penny. Yes our room was at front again but given we went to bed at one am did not cause us a problem. Scones on arrival lovely with clotted cream and jam. Food fantastic. Mussels are gorgeous And the venison lovely My partner had breaded mushrooms and rump steak Breakfast was great too and the bottle of wine was a nice bonus. Staff were very friendly. Can't wait for next deal as we will certainly be booking again.

This little hotel is a must for value , we both arrived at the hotel , booked in, had then scones and a two course meal in the evening with a bottle of wine and breakfast in the morning for £49

Great value for money

Room was spotless and we booked room one because my husband is disabled but the only downside is there is no rooms on ground level so had to climb a few stairs to get to the upper landing which became a struggle for my husband although your room was room 1 just at the top of the stairs

Our meal in the evening was fantastic and i cannot fault this in any way, we didnt go for breakfast so i cannot comment simply because it was from 7am - 9am which i felt was a little early for us but that was just our preference others may like an early breakfast but i just feel when you go on an overnight stay you kinda love to lie in a wee bit in the morning

Lastly never book room 1 if you are a light sleeper because we were awake most of the night with really heavy traffic passing plus police sirens and the drunks leaving the pub later at night.

Overall i dont think i will go back simply because of the noise, we love a nice relaxing overnight stay rather than i roudy one, so if your young your fine

Room Tip: I feel with this hotel no room will be quiet during the night because most all face into a busy road...

My husband and I stayed at The Coachman last night (Sunday), one night DB&B using a Great Deals discount voucher and found it to be very good value indeed. We were given a family room, which was to the standard you would expect from a 3 star hotel, but the bathroom was definitely 4 star standard. Our only complaint about the room was it was too warm, however it had been a hot day. This was easily forgiveable, as the staff were very friendly and helpful; the food was excellent with a good quality of choice on the menu and the whole place oozed a very friendly atmosphere. We were late coming down for breakfast (which finishes at 9am) but with no questions asked or mention of us being late, we were offered the full menu and served freshly cooked food. Even without staying overnight, the hotel offers great discounts on mid-week meals - we would definitely recommend this hotel for either a meal, a night out, or a short stay.

Went on a Deal on a Thursday night. Part of the deal was scones on arrival. Nice hot scone with jam and clotted cream and a tasty coffee - very good start. A room at the back so no noise from the main road. Room was clean and tidy but the en-suite was tiny. Took about 10 minutes for hot water to come from the shower. Water pressure was also poor. Remote for the TV was via a £10 deposit at reception. We booked table for 6pm as girl at reception said there were some big parties coming in. Restaurant got very busy with three large groups of about 18 each table. Our starters were Prawn Cocktail and Pate. Both were very tasty and not skimpy. Main meal was Rump Steak and Duck Again, both large portions and very tasty. The bottle of house Rose was passable but a bit bitter. However, all in all a pleasant evening meal served by cheery and attentive staff. Breakfast is fine as long as you take the cooked breakfast. Otherwise it is cereals only. No sign of any fruit. Watery, sweet orange juice. Had to make your own toast on the slowest toaster in existence! Prepare your own tea and coffee. Poured my coffee from the pot on display, took one sip and left it beside the pot. Coffee was lifeless. Took a tea bag and added hot water from another pot. No menus on view, so the cooked breakfast was a surprise. It actually was very good and filling. However, no marmalade available for the toast. No complaints about the waitress who was friendly enough. I certainly would not return if I had to pay full price for what I experienced.

Arrived for a family lunch at approximately 11.45. Restaurant did not look too busy, we were shown to a table quickly. It is important to note that we asked if All day breakfast was stll being served, to be told it was on until noon. Our order was taken along with the two childrens meal and - one breakfast, along with drinks. Drinks arrived after about 10minutes. Then it all seemed to spark off, it was obvious that they had another large party in an annex, and had we been told that and that the meal would be delayed we would have accepted that , and look else where. when you have two children if is very difficult to explain as to why they are not being served. after 30 minutes I asked a member of staff, who did not appear to be busy, as to when we could expect out meals. " We are busy and it is the childrens chips that is the holdup" was the reply. But were were told it would only be a few more minutes. After a further 15 minutes I again approached a staff member and asked to speak with a supervisor and was directed to a young lady who was rude, incapable of listening and could only recite" we are not a fast food restaurant- all our food is freshly produced to order" I asked how long she thought is should take to prepare four sandwiches, a breakfast and two kiddies meals- yes fish and CHIPS and sausages and CHIPS. She would check! After another run in with said supervisor we were ready to leave, I had asked for the bill for the drinks, to be told it the food was just coming. dumped on the table no aplology. No eye contact. Customer service I think not. Wont be back and if you value your time and money neither should you.
