“Dreadful Accomodation Experience!!”
1 of 5 bubbles Reviewed June 17, 2012

Stayed there last night, me and my husband (age late 40's) and were given the very first room as you enter the coridor door into the hotels bedrooms ... well we had a group of girls etc running about from 1.15 am for about 2 hours, shouting and carrying on, running between bedrooms, could hear them looking for a lighter (well the rooms are also meant to be non smoking, i have nothing against smokers, i smoke myself.... but would never smoke in a non smoking hotel bedroom!!) We had no soap in the shower either and when complained they didnt care, i was then told it had soap in it but was broken. I totally agree with Anne M's review, they dont give a damn about the guests staying in the rooms all they need is the bar and restaurant which is very busy.
I will just end on how our night away started ... we booked over a month ago and booked dinner for 7.30pm and when we arrived in the restaurant which was fully booked we were told our reservation wasnt there, we did get a table and the food was great but should have known a start like that was not going to end there!!!!

Room Tip: Pick a different hotel !!

We booked a night at the Coachman Hotel. We got a very good deal on our stay and were not necessarily expecting the best quality for our room, food or service. When we approached the hotel we did not think that it looked that extraordinary from the outside and then I found the menu very limiting as a vegetarian. However the veggie burger I had was by far the best I have ever had, really well presented and in a ciabatta roll (far from the cheap white you normally get with a burger) and served with onion rings AND chips. The burger was also filled with loads of melted good quality cheddar cheese, so different from what I normally get!
The interior of the hotel and restaurant was really nice, and in addition every member of staff we encountered was really friendly and helpful. They even offered to put our bikes in their storeroom for safe keeping during our stay.
Overall this hotel really impressed me and I would definitely stay here again.

Stayed here last month and would never stay again, the staff don't really care about guests and it becomes very apparent that the hotels main income is the bar and restaurant and that they don't really need bedrooms on the premises. Perhaps they should think about getting rid. Why would you put the family room above the exceedingly noisy disco?!?!

Horrible experience, was so glad to leave.................

Room Tip: Don't!!

Had dinner in the coachman last week & food was good. Prices are reasonable & they had a deal menu too with a fair selection of food available. Service was just ok, the staff are very pleasant but they forgot one of our starters which was the only drawback

Seven of us went to the Coachman on 4th June for a family Sunday lunch. There was a mixed age group from great granny to 9 month old baby.

The concensus was that this was amazing value for money, service was very friendly and efficient.

We ordered from both the specials and standard menu and the only "complaint" we could find was that the portions were too large! Had we realised this we would not have had starters.. In fact the starters were the size of main courses.

I would highly recommend the special starter- mushrooms in spicy salsa and from the standard menu the haggis & black pudding fritters with spicy red onions & yoghurt mint dip were fantastic.

The roast lamb was beautiful, although far too much.

All in all this was a very good dining experience.

My fiance and i had booked this hotel on Friday via the Great Deal. it was absolutely amzing to say the least. It was a really sunny day so we were able to sit out in beer garden. The rooms were small but clean comfy and adequate. if i go back i would certainly ask for a room at the back as it was a tad noisy when everyone was leaving at the end of the night but to be fair we did have the window open full as it was very warm. The food was amazing to be honest the best i have had in a long time . I ordered the mussells and could not believe the presentation let alone the very generous portion and they were amazing. my foance had the haggis and blackpudding fritters and they were gorgeous too. having never tasted veal i took the plunge on the recomendation of our waiter and was certianly not disappointed. My fiance had never tried duck and was not disappointed either. we struggled to gave space for a sweet but i did ask for just ice cream and again lovely and very well presented. The choice of menu was fantastic and there was definitely something for everyone. The staff were very pleasant and nothing was too much trouble. We will definitely be back and if you read this please give it a try especially if there is a Great Deal available. sorry almost forgot full freshly cooked breakfast in the morning. 10 out of 10 . Annie & George,

We dine in the Coachman fairly regularly.

I cannot resist the home made steak pie it is excellent.
They have an extensive menu from steak to fish.
It is very busy for the early bird meals and would probably recommend you to book a table if you have to travel.
We live within 10 mins walking and tend to take the chance and wait for a table if we need to if we are visiting during the week.

They also have childrens menus.
