“a remote and peaceful cottage”
Reviewed September 4, 2014 for a stay in July 2014

This cottage is ideally located at the top of a hill with beautiful vistas over 180 degrees. The cottage is spick and span, fully equipped. (We found there more than we expected and everything was well organised and laid out: It felt like home with internet connection, washing and drying machine, dishwasher, television set ....).
Peter, the owner, is a fantastic host , helpful but also respectful of our privacy . We recommend him to future visitors and wish them as much happiness as we had last July.

“Comfortable cottage set in a beautiful and tranquil landscape, with good access to Glasgow”
Reviewed August 25, 2014 for a stay in August 2014

Four of us had a great stay in this lovely cottage. The decoration was done in a classic and homely way, and we settled in quickly. The sofabed was very solid and i slept very well, while our two daughters enjoyed the comfy bed upstairs. The wash basin in the living room is very useful saving going up to upstairs lavatory all the time. Peter is a perfect host, always helpful and knowledgeable but otherwise invisible. The girls loved Heira the dog and couldnt spend enough time with her.... We will definitely go back again if we are to come to this part of the world.

I cannot believe we found this amazing place almost on our own doorstep. We both loved this cottage everything was thought of a real home from home without the stresses of everyday life. Peter has done a fantastic job making this a warm and welcoming environment with additional touches coffee, tea spices etc not forgetting the lovely flowers. A big thank you to Peter for taking the booking at such short notice, we received a warm welcome from Peter and little Heeruh. No doubt this little gem will become one of these hard to book places when word gets out can't wait to return. Peter is very knowledgable about the local area and gave us good tips on local walks.

“A gem of a place to stay”
Reviewed June 16, 2014 for a stay in June 2014

Very warm welcome from Heeruh the terrier set the tone for our stay at Brockieside. Peter met us with a box of chocolates and fresh flowers and a tour of a very warm space. Brockieside has all two people need for a stay, comfortable bed, big bath, well equipped kitchen and space to relax. Combine this with views across to the south, proximity to the Trossachs, easy access to Glasgow and Edinburgh by train and we have no hesitation in recommending Brockieside as a superb holiday stay. The little extras from Peter like the huge meringues from Alex the local baker and best of all Peter's homemade chocolate were the finishing touch to a lovely week.

“Exactly what we needed”
Reviewed May 17, 2014 for a stay in May 2014

We were welcomed by Peter and his dog, both were delightful. Peter could not have done more for us, nothing was too much bother. The cottage is clean and well equiped with everything you could possibly want or need. Fresh flowers a beautiful welcoming touch. The view was stunning and in summation it was an idylic spot to spend any time. If you are looking for comfort, views and some peace, close to a small town and close to some larger cities with close proximity to wondercul tourist spots then this is the place for you!

A trip planned to visit relatives in Glasgow and to get some road cycling with hills under our belts. Brockieside was the perfect location half way up a classic Scottish hill climb. The views were spectacular and you are very soon into some wonderful countryside. even the weather was perfect.

Peter couldn't have been more helpful and was very considerate of our totally blind cocker spaniel. We had absolutely everything we needed in the cottage and there were lots of little extra touches to make our stay even more enjoyable.

Highly recommended as a superb base for lots of different types of break (in our case it was cycling based).
