Had an enjoyable lunch here. One waitress was not having a particularly good day. Will be back

1st time visiting the hotel was on Saturday for my sisters wedding, and i have to put in my 1st ever trip advisor review, to let you all know how great it was!! From start to finish the staff, general standard of the hotel and food was perfect. She was on a tight budget so i wasn't expecting much but too be honest we were treated like you would normally be at a 5* hotel.
Firstly there was plenty of friendly staff around to help with whatever your need may be .. . point you in the right direction of the loo, replace a fallen fork from the table . .. whatever our need it was seen to immediately without the fuss of having to wait, or go looking for someone.
Next up has to be the general state of the hotel, decor is modern, outside is well kept, beautiful small garden feature, table/chairs all in new condition everything is well cared for, and cleaned to a very high standard.
The most impressive part for me was def the food . . . we had a set menu of 3 choices. Soup, melon or Prawn cocktail. I went for the prawns and WOW . . . the portion was massive and very tasty!! For mains i had Roast beef and again huge portion with all the trimmings, beautifully presented, piping hot and prompt! Finally i finished off with Sticky Toffee Pudding which is my favourite pudding in the world and was delicious . . . however i actually couldn't eat it all as i was so full from my starter & main!! All night guests were discussing how lovely the food was, and actually im still gobsmacked it was soo good!!!
Drink was reasonable (i think!) i didn't buy any drinks all night . . . others bought them for my which makes me think they must of been cheap or i'd of heard them moaning!!!lol We also had an evening buffet which was brought to each individual table and again it was a large selection Pakoras, Sausage rolls, Sandwiches and cake. There was more than enough for everyone and again everyone thoroughly enjoyed it.
I think i've covered everything but before i go i have to say how big the bedrooms are . . . i didn't stay however i did get to have a nosy in room 16!! It was massive, 2 big double beds in it and loads more room for a 3rd!! Bathroom was modern and big and clean.
Overall i will def be back here, really enjoyed my visit . . . Thanks Red House Hotel :D x
it was good. The food was tasty and there was lots of choice. The carvery was good value for money and the Yorkshire puddings with the roast beef nearly filled the plate. i would reccomend to friends and family.
Was advised by friends that the Red House was good value for money and so decided to take the plunge. I decided to try out their Sunday Carvery but but was disapointed and surprised. Coming from a Hotel background of 18years I could tell that this was one of the most dissapointing spreads that I've seen. The two types of meat were fine but the sides were sparce and by the looks of it not homemade. The Yorkies looked like Auntie Bessy made them and the roast potatoes tasted pre frozen. The 2 types of veg were watery and the gravy was below par, very below par. The full and extensive menu was available which I think was the problem here. The kitchen was over streched and so easy convenient prepreared food was used instead of fresh. Now I can't be 100% sure that it was preprepared but it certainly tasted like it. Also the bar area rather than bright and cheerful was all wood and rather dull. The staff on the whole were nice and friendly but not enough to save the experience for me.
Food is terrific! Something on the menu for everyone. Friendly, attentive staff. Good traditional food and great value for money.
Went here by recommendation of other family members, the menu and decor is very traditional. The menu was extensive. Food was very quick to arrive, fresh, hot and very tasty. Staff were attentive and service was great. Just ate here - did not stay at the hotel.
