“Don't be fooled by it's exterior”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 19, 2014

It looks like just another bistro/restaurant from the outside - it is most certainly not. Fantastic food, good ambience, well priced. Fine dining in Betty's Bay at it's best! Love going here wherever I am in the area and able to get in. Never disappointed. Highly recommended. Sit inside in the main restaurant or along the side area with the windows opening up onto the outside patch of grass. Reservations essential for dinner.

“Tides is a gem! ”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 8, 2014 via mobile

What a splendid evening out! I was advised that I might eat the best steak of my life and I must say it came pretty close. What a gem of a restaurant with great service, a friendly waiter and great wines! It's worth the visit to Betty's Bay.

“Betty's secret”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed January 4, 2014

Tucked away opposite the service station and next to the local superette is The Tides. Book early so as not to be disappointed.. Owners - host Lydia and chef Johan will make you welcome. A chalkboard menu ensures freshness and the food is very well prepared, and the portions are more than generous.
As a long time resident of Betty's Bay I enjoy not having to drive to the next village for good food.
Don't bother about the other restaurants, this is the place to eat in Betty's.

“Excellent food”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed September 14, 2013

The restaurant is cosy and warm and the food was excellent. The hostess was friendly and made us feel welcome and the service was very good. The fireplace was a nice welcome from the chilly air outside.

“Great find for great food in a small town!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed August 11, 2013

Stuck away in an unobtrusive place in Betty's Bay is this great find. A roaring fire welcomed us in the middle of Winter on a long weekend away from Cape Town. The food and service was great. The chef has had a number of years experience in a five-star hotel in Cape Town and over the last three years they seem to have built up quite a reputation in the Overberg, with being almost fully booked for both the nights we enquired about. Portions were generous and the prices were typical Cape Town prices, but it was well worth it.
