Room is fairly renovated. Flat Screen TV, Bottled water and Keurig Coffee machine in this small town at this price? Nuff Said. Outside of the hotel is not good looking though.
Free WIFI and Huge Parking lot. Staffs was so friendly.

Room Tip: Ask a Staff for non-Smoking Single Room. Well equipped.

The room was fairly basic but I feel like the price reflected that. The exterior and lobby are worn and in need of updating. The staff were friendly. The room had recently been refinished and was spotless. The walls are a bit thin but if you don't bring earplugs, they do have some available at the front desk.

We paid 120.00 - only one light in ceiling. Beds poorly made. Small plastic packets of soap and shampoo. Bare room. We were in a bind with icy roads and I think the girl was told to charge more taking advantage of people. At the most it was a $50.00 room.

Room Tip: Find another hotel.

I arrived there on New Year's Eve from Cuba.
I wanted to talk to my family back in Thailand to say happy new year.
The phone didn't work in my room, That was a bit annoying.
So I called to manage and explained all the details.
He came up to my room, gave me a phone he had and apologized for inconvenience.
I made a couple of phone calls to Thialnd and Toronto to say happy new Year.
It was the most memorable new year's day I've ever had.
Thank you Lagana Hotel.
Thank you Manager.

Lanigan is a quiet sort of place and the Lagana, set at the north end of town away from the Yellowhad Highway and the railway lines is quiet too. The trains only disturb the night as an evocative prarie sound - just as well as one goes by at four in the morning - every morning.

The approach is not impressive; the car park is dirt and, as the hotel is popular with out-of town workmen, full of pickups. One gets to the entrace foyer through a lobby in the middle of which a large, rather oily looking, can sits, catching the water dripping through the light fitting. The carpet suffers (badly) from the boots of the clientel. It all looks a little tired. The lobby is quiet, but a front desk can be summoned by phone. When we arrived, it was disconcerting to find that a booking of three rooms for about a week originating with a phone call from the UK and confirmed by e-mail could not be rememberd though I am sure we were the only party from the UK needing three room that were there at the time - or probably at any time. Lanigan is quiet.

But rooms were available and, against the expectations raised by the lobby and foyer, they were very clean and well equipped with stocked bathroom, Wi-Fi, AC, a decent sized refridgerator, TV and microwave. There was an alarm/radio but plugging it in would have meant shifting the furniture, so we did without. The room phone had an alarm system capability and it did not take long to work out that it was still on winter time, an hour out, even though the time is Saskatchewan does not change during the year. Important to know if one has to wake very early to run to Regina to catch a plane.

The rooom was well cleaned daily with fresh towels, sheets and so on.

Facilities at the hotel were simple - just a bar; the only bar in Lanigan. It stayed open until 2 AM which was well past the town's bed-time so was not a source of noise. The bar itself was rather typical small-town out west, pool table, a few arcade games, slots, a couple of wide-screen TVs and a few boisterous local youths. The hotel clientel, having to work for a living, seemed to keep away from the bat in fovour of an early night and a 5 AM start in the morning. We were warned that it got a bit more boisterous on Friday evening when the phophate miners cam to town, but, come Friday and Saturday, both the car park and it were empty. Lanigan is a quiet town.

The hoel staff were noticable by their discretion - they never seemed to be around, but that also meant that it stayed quiet, very quiet.

For the money, and for quietness, you cannot fault it. It is obviously the best place to stay in town as the alternatives face onto the Highway and the railwayand would not be as quiet (and the evocotine night-time train whilstles would be a whole lot louder and accompanied by the rattling of one hundred plus wagons,) and qietness is what Lanigan is all about.

That and flatness, though the town museum is intersting (though not as ineresting as near-by Nokomis,) but it does boast a fantasic Arts and Crafts harmonium, if you are into that sort of thing.

Room Tip: Keep to the western end in the two storey section and away from the bar just in case all those phosp...
