Description: Open June through August The Sailor's Galley Restaurant is conveniently located on the upper level of O'Brien's Whale and Bird Tours seaside chalet. Relax and take in the views of the stunning harbor while enjoying a delicious meal that will satisfy all of your senses. Whether you are waiting to take a boat tour, docking after one of our excursions, or looking to enjoy a meal in a relaxing environment, the Sailor's Galley Restaurant is just the place. We proudly serve a wide selection of Newfoundland cuisine along with a more traditional menu. We are told our Seafood Chowder, Pan Fried Cod and Fish & Chips are amongst the very best, seafood is our specialty after all. “Good Food and Service”
Reviewed August 12, 2014

We visited this restaurant after our boat tour. We were promptly seated and given menus. There are many choices from traditional Newfoundland cuisine: fish n chips, fish cakes, baked beans, fries dressing and gravy, peas soup and desserts like partridgeberry cake. There are also selections that you would find in many restaurants (i.e. grilled cheese sandwiches). We all enjoyed our meals and would return.

“Delicious fish cakes”

Enjoyed our meal looking out at Bay Bulls Harbour. The fish cakes with homemade baked beans were delicious. Family restaurant with low key decor. Good service from Simone.

“Feels like home”
Reviewed July 27, 2014 via mobile

A beautiful spot right on Bay Bulls overlooking the water. Nice bright interior with light wood and lots of windows. Christa immediately made us feel at home with a warm greeting and wonderful service? The young man delivering food and cleaning tables was obviously new but so pleasant and seemed eager to learn.

We started with the mussels which were so big and full of taste. The three of us had the Ham and Swiss sandwich, Fish & Chips, and Grilled Cheese (even the crust was eaten!!). We all enjoyed our meals.

If you are going on the O'Brian's boat tour be sure to make time before or after to enjoy a great meal that fits like home?

“Arrive well before 7 pm closing time”
Reviewed July 20, 2014

We arrived at the restaurant just before 6:00 and they wouldn't allow us to sit on the deck as they wanted to keep it clean for their 7 pm closing time. They said have a seat but every table we chose turned out to be reserved (with no reserved sign), so we asked "where can we sit?"

We quickly scanned the menu and decided there was nothing so special offered that we had to stay. So we left.

Kate J, Manager at The Sailor's Galley Restaurant, responded to this review, July 22, 2014
Hi Gabriele,
Our sincerest apologies for the lack of customer service you received during your recent visit to the Sailor's Galley Restaurant. I can assure you this is not the way the staff are trained to treat our guests. Both the restaurant and patio tables are open to all customers each day until 7:00pm. As for the reserved tables within the restaurant they each should of had a reserved sign on them, again our apologies for that. I have spoken to the staff about this incident to ensure it won't happen again.
If you are ever in the area again I would encourage you to join us for a meal at the Sailor's Galley Restaurant, I am confident you will enjoy both the food and customer service.
Thank you for providing your feedback.
