Beautiful peaceful location, a real find.
Cottage is furnished to a very high standard and a lot of thought gone in to the lay out.
Two bedrooms en- suite is ideal as we were travelling with friends so personal space is very important.
A good base for touring North Devon but it is a down a few unmade roads but so nice to get away from the big towns.
The local pub called The Junction Inn have a terrific menu we were all impressed with the standard of the food.
The owners John & Anne Russell made our journey to the premises very easy to find and met us for a key changeover making us very welcome.
We would certainly recommend this property to friends.

“Peaceful country setting”
Reviewed April 14, 2018 for a stay in April 2018

Lovely scenic location. Imagine it would be stunning in the summer months. Our visit was early spring so the surrounding grass land was quite boggy under foot - wellies were essential. Feeding the fish in the lake became a daily activity for our two sons (aged 10 and 13).
A variety of places were easily reachable. 30 mins from Bude. (without traffic) 20 mins from Okehampton.

House was well equipped with most things you would need for a week stay. Anne and John left some fresh flowers and an Easter cake, which was a nice touch. There are 2 ensuites with large showers. Beds were comfy. There were some family games on shelves in living area. One night, under clear skies, the stars were totally amazing!

All in, a great family holiday base. Good value during school Easter holidays too.

“Tranquil Break”
Reviewed March 30, 2018 for a stay in March 2018

The chill of the unexpected early spring snow was countered by the warmth of the welcome from the owners, John & Anne. We stayed in the Garden House, which was beautifully appointed with en suite in both bedrooms. Amazingly quiet location set in endless acres [ or so it seemed ] complete with lake. Must come back when the weather is a little warmer!

“A Real Home from Home”
Reviewed February 6, 2018 for a stay in January 2018

My wife and I have just spent two weeks staying at the Garden House.
Firstly I would like to say John and Anne made us feel very welcome throughout our stay and their genuine sense of hospitality made our time at the Garden House feel comfortable and very relaxed.
The accommodation is nothing short of superb. We have spent over ten years visiting many holiday cottages and holiday rentals in the South West and John and Anne's accommodation beats everywhere else by a mile. The high standard and the quality of the finish within the cottage was truly excellent.
Thank you for a very peaceful relaxing two weeks. Hope you see you again soon.

Mr and Mrs Clegg.

“Relaxed and Chilled Out!”

Our stay at The Garden House was top notch and although only for 3 nights we had a superbly restful stay because we slept so very well in the most comfortable bed ever! It is hard to single out any one thing which made our short break feel special, it was all first class from the lovely location; the lakeside Summer House on a lovely sunny Autumn day; the well equipped, spacious kitchen with everything to hand that you could wish for; comfortable sofas and a super flat screen TV. A great selection of books to curl up with in front of the log burner was the icing on the cake! All important and appreciated very much indeed.

All in all The Garden House is to be recommended to anyone looking for a stress free holiday with comfort on demand. The fresh air system that John explained
and demonstrated, meant that the house had a change of air every hour as it was constantly filtering old air out and new air in to the property. Certainly smelled fresh everywhere in The Garden House and no lingering condensation in the beautifully appointed en-suite shower rooms.

We would return to Lower Winsford in a heartbeat because we too have a holiday let in North Devon and know what care and attention it takes to keep a property such as The Garden House in so presentable a manner.

“So worth the journey down the lane.”
Reviewed September 25, 2017 for a stay in September 2017

The holiday home was much more than the pictures had led us to believe on the website, everything was so tastefully done and to a high standard, with the added surprise of a lovely cake and flowers as a welcome present. The location was stunning with the grounds and lake to walk around and even a boat to row around the lake. The area was great for trips to the north coast of Devon and Cornwall, all of which was not very far. Plenty of places to visit Okehampton Castle, Bude, Bideford, Buckfast Abbey, and so much more. We would highly recommend this holiday.
