A really nice place, and a great place to have some alone (alone couple) time. very quiet and peaceful.

Very much recommend Casa Alvarada. traditional place with a great service and food, plus it is located right in the entrance to Comala.

Jupiter and his wife are great hostess and tour guides.

Thank Cuaunt

While staying at Casa Alvarada Bed and Breakfast, we took the full day Colima Volcano tour. Jupiter is an extremely knowledgeable guide, and he takes care to make sure everyone enjoys the tour. Being as close as we were to the volcano was amazing - it even put on a show while we were there, venting off steam and ash long enough for us to take pictures. Unfortunately, the coffee plantation wasn't available for tours that day, so we went to Laguna La Maria - a crater lake - instead. It turned out to be a good thing, as we saw not 1 but 3 Elegant Torgons (members of the quetzal family), something Jupiter said was highly unusual. By the way, he is also very familiar with the birdlife in the area, so if you enjoy bird-watching, he's the person to talk to. We will be going back for another tour in the near future.

Only did the 1/2 day tour and would have done a full day if we had more time. Our guide (Jupiter) was superb. An intriguing tour and interesting place that one should not miss.

This was a great tour! We travelled to Colima by bus, from Manzanillo, and Jupiter met us at the bus station. There were 6 of us, and one other couple joined us for the tour. We started by going to the top of a parking garage in downtown Colima - might sound odd, but it gave us a fantastic view from up high of all of Colima, and Jupiter pointed out the sights and where we would be going. We saw a local market, the cathedral, the square (La Plaza Principal), a local folk art museum, ancient ruins (pyramid of La Campana) and the government palace - just to name a few. We had a great Mexican lunch at a restaurant on the square in nearby Comala - Mariachi bands offerred their entertainment. Then we went to a coffee plantation area (friends say it is the best coffee they have ever had), a mask maker and Nogueras museum. We also saw the volcano from a safe distance! At the end of the tour, Jupiter dropped us off at the bus station, as we were travelling back to Manzanillo, and he accompanied us inside to make sure that we got tickets on the correct bus. We travelled from site to site in Jupiter's well airconditioned Suburban, that was in great shape. Jupiter speaks excellent English and works with you to tailor the tour that you want. I would definitely reccomend booking with Jupiter/Admire Mexico Tours.

We did a whole day horseback ride, we saw some beautiful country side and the volcano. We had a great lunch and learned a lot about the area and it's history from our guide Jupiter . Don't forget your camera!
